I have tutored a number of students both for the regular SAT and the SAT2 subject test. One of those students received a score of 800, and told me that I was a huge help for him in scoring that high. Although I tutor and teach all secondary courses up through Calculus, the bulk of my students are taught/tutored in pre-algebra through algebra 2, which is the major content source for the SAT. I am able not only to review the separate topics covered on the test, but also tie topics together so that students don't need to rely upon memorization. [more]

In the past fifteen years, I have taught hundreds of students to master the Math, English, and Test Preparation Skills required for the PLAN and ACT, the PSAT and SAT, and the GRE and GMAT. I firmly believe that anyone can learn to do well on any of these tests with my help. I was the principal instructor for a major test preparation company for a number of years, and I am certified to teach test prep for the PSAT, ACT, SAT, GMAT, and GRE. For more than ten years, I was an instructor for Math, Reading and Writing for a major after-school education program. As an Aerospace Engineer and Profe [more]

Yep! That's me hanging off a bridge I taught my students to build made only of popsicle sticks and hot glue! My weeks fill up quickly so please schedule your times early! Physics and Math are passions of mine. I can teach you why you feel heavier flying through a loop on a roller coaster, how far you can throw a baseball on the moon, and why sunlight refracting through water droplets forms a rainbow! Because each student is unique and learns differently, my lessons and teaching vary to mat... [more]

My passion for teaching was founded by my own experience as a student. Throughout my academic career, the challenges I encountered refined my own approach to understanding subjects, and the ensuing success after overcoming such obstacles brought me further love for learning and those subjects. I want to transmit that feeling of accomplishment to students as they master their own subjects, and hopefully foster a passion for further learning and success in any of their other endeavors. As a to... [more]

The first time I knew Greg, he had no motivation to learn Math at all. He didn?t bother listening to the lessons, let alone doing the practice questions. Ticked off by this situation, I made it my goal to have him behave. And if there was one thing about being an engineer, it taught me to find the root cause before trying to fix a problem. The journey of finding the reason for his behavior was not what I expected. I finally learned that he had no motivation to learn because he thought he was ... [more]

I understand how frustrating math can be for many students, especially those who have been away from math for a few years. I can make the SAT/math test questions easier to attack and often find alternative and quicker paths to the solution. Sat/math tends to be confusing in the way they ask questions, so you need to change your approach from what was successful in high school. I will give you some techniques you may not be currently using. I push hard on reading all math problems twice, doing the calculation, then reading the problem a 3rd time before putting down your answer. This usually ad [more]
