My approach with SAT math is a combination of clarification, refreshment, and saturation. The SAT's, cover a wide breadth of mathematical knowledge. I help to fill in the gaps that students have in any of the subjects. Along with reeducating students in the subjects, I strongly encourage a lot of practice with SAT questions; familiarity with the style of questions that can appear on the test will give students a great advantage when they finally approach the exam. With over 15 years of tutoring experience and having graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Applied Mathematics from UCLA, I [more]

It may seem strange to begin with a statistic, but I trust you will agree it's not wholly inappropriate. During the 2009-2010 school year, my 11 AP Chemistry students had a 100% pass rate with the following score distribution: Seven of them scored a 5, three scored a 4, and one scored a 3. The high scores are greater than three times the national average. What makes this even more impressive is that I only saw my students an average of 2.5 times per week (2 days one week, 3 days the next, alt... [more]

As a research scientist, I actually use this math on a regular basis, so I can help you see how it's relevant to practical life! ;) I've been tutoring high school, college, and graduate students for 23 years, and nearly every subject requires some math refreshing. I don't think math classes are usually taught well in school, so getting some extra personal help is a great idea! I remember what it was like to struggle with science and math subjects, and I hope to remove the anxiety and frustration from these topics. I think all students can understand these topics... I?ve always loved learning and sharing the joy of discovery and the thrill of a challenge with others. I find that the more a student can relate his or her own passions and experiences to a subject, the more that subject's material becomes a part of the student, rather than stale information to be memorized and forgotten. My goal, therefore, is to engage those I tutor, not merely to instruct. I graduated from Pomona College in 2006 Cum Laude with a B.A. degree in English and minors in Lingui... [more]

My name is Andy, and I love math. I hold a BS and MS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In high school, I competed in various prestigious math and science competitions. I have gotten 800s in SAT math I and II. Learn from the best! I am patient and have great ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. Over the years I have developed various techniques on how to solve problems very quickly and accurately. When looking at a problem, there may be multiple ways to solve... [more]

I am a Caltech graduate with a degree in Mathematics and 25 years experience as an Aerospace Engineer. I love teaching math and realize that every student has a unique learning style, so I try to tailor my lessons to allow each student to use their strengths to solve a problem in the way that is easiest for them, while also working on their weak points so they will have more tools available to them to solve problems in different ways in the future. One of the great things about Math is that t... [more]

I earned perfect scores on the SAT and the SAT II Math Level 2 subject test. Since then, I've spent years helping students maximize their scores. I can train students to interpret tricky word problems, quickly identify applicable math concepts, and use knowledge of the SAT format to answer questions efficiently. I have been teaching students from elementary school through adulthood since I was twelve years old. My mother, a teacher herself, showed me that students learn best when they are active participants in every stage of the learning process. Thus, I focus on understanding each student's [more]

Hi! I have many years of tutoring experience for all grade levels. The bad news is that most students struggle with Math. The good news is that, not only is it my favorite subject but I also have a teaching credential in Math that allows me to teach Math for grades K-12! My students find me approachable and feel comfortable to ask me questions on their homework. I also have patience with students and I take my time explaining concepts to them. I'm happy to say that I have helped many i... [more]

My students have raised their scores significantly after their tutoring with me. I have gotten my Masters in physical science and a minor mathematics with coursework beyond Calculus. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and graduated from University of Hawaii at Manoa in May 2012 with a BS in Meteorology and a Minor in Mathematics. I have recently finished my Master's in Applied Meteorology at Mississippi State University in 2014 and recently finished a professional certificate in Geographic Information Systems in 2016. Throughout my education, I have gained a background in Chemistry, Phys [more]
