I took the SAT twice in high school, scoring 700 on the math section. I am available for the 2018-19 school year. My availability is limited to afternoons and early evenings, during the week, however. I specialize in Calculus and Physics tutoring, but also work with many students in Algebra, Geometry, and Precalculus. I studied Physics at Knox College in Illinois, graduating early in November of 2014. My main areas of interest are Astronomy/Astrophysics and Quantum Mechanics, but I'm well-versed in many areas of Physics, including Mechanics, Electricity & Ma... [more]

I have been working for the past 20 years with students who have found classroom work difficult. Through thousands of hours of working with both the parents and the students I have found too often the roadblocks to learning are the mismatches between the student's learning style and the teacher's teaching style. One on one tutoring with an experienced tutor can avoid these roadblocks. I look behind the homework for skills that have been misapplied or never learned and work with the student to... [more]

I've worked with several students using an SAT manual to prepare for their exam and many on the math section. Students do best after preparing for the types of questions the exam has along with knowing what formulas and type of math are required. Students improve by learning the math and practicing. Most students see marked improvement after three months having a session once a week. I started my work out of college as a middle school teacher. Then, I worked in business world to learn how knowledge is used outside the academic environment. It helped prepare me to teach students what lies [more]

Numerous successes in school and many years of work experiences as a supervisor prepared me to do well as a tutor. More than one instructor requested my help in proofreading and editing mathematics or computer science textbooks. In the workplace, I was promoted to Service Manager and given many workers t... My background is particularly well-suited to the LSAT, insofar as the field of philosophy is laden with both formal and informal logic, stric... [more]

SAT math involves the subjects of algebra, number and set theory, plane and coordinate geometry, trigonometry, functions, percents, and even some data analysis, probability, and sequences. I have tutored a number of students who were preparing for the SAT, ACT, and GRE. I have detailed knowledge of the subjects covered on the exam, as well as knowledge of the test format. I bring actual SAT practice problems to my test prep tutoring sessions so that students become familiar with the types of problems they will see on the test. [more]
