My approach with SAT math is a combination of clarification, refreshment, and saturation. The SAT's, cover a wide breadth of mathematical knowledge. I help to fill in the gaps that students have in any of the subjects. Along with reeducating students in the subjects, I strongly encourage a lot of practice with SAT questions; familiarity with the style of questions that can appear on the test will give students a great advantage when they finally approach the exam. With over 15 years of tutoring experience and having graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Applied Mathematics from UCLA, I [more]

SAT math often makes students (and many a parent as well) very nervous. While the types of problems are not more difficult than the problems a student is required to solve during regular tests in their normal classes, there is the pressure of knowing that quite a bit of one's college opportunities ride on his or her score on this test. Plus, working under pressure is not easy for most people. My approach is requiring the student to take a sample test, seeing the overall score and checking for potential areas that reveal particular weaknesses, and working from there. Also, time management is e [more]

The math sections measure a student?s ability to reason quantitatively, solve mathematical problems, and interpret data presented in graphical form. These sections focus on four areas of mathematics that are typically covered in the first three years of American high school education: Arithmetic, Algebra and Functions, Geometry, and Data Analysis. The Algebra section was recently expanded to include basic College Algebra. What engenders a love of math? How can the door to its beautiful and fun aspects to be opened onto the numbers and their qualities, then remain open through algebra and beyon [more]

I have a Ph.D in Mathematics and have been teaching Mathematics and Statistics for many years. I have always enjoyed tutoring and believe it is the most effective way of learning. My tutoring experience goes way back to my graduate study at U of Delaware. And through the years, I have been tutoring mathematics of all levels. I have been teaching pre-algebra, algebra 1, calculus I, II and III, geometry, pre-calculus and statistics. I have been tutoring for SAT, AP. Make mathematics fun a... [more]

As an experienced mathematics Tutor, I know the struggle of SAT Math. The word to describe SAT math is "tricky." When I first began studying SAT math, I was getting stuck on almost every problem and was only able to achieve around 5-600 on the scale score range. But I kept studying it, going over problems, taking practice SAT tests from books and online, and I now score 750-800. I must have put in 300+ hours of studying just so I could tutor efficiently and correctly for the student(s). I am highly confident in SAT math, and I understand the importance of a high test score to get into the coll [more]

I am a Caltech graduate with a degree in Mathematics and 25 years experience as an Aerospace Engineer. I love teaching math and realize that every student has a unique learning style, so I try to tailor my lessons to allow each student to use their strengths to solve a problem in the way that is easiest for them, while also working on their weak points so they will have more tools available to them to solve problems in different ways in the future. One of the great things about Math is that t... [more]

I got trained this past summer and had to review two 200 page books in order to pass the training. I have now tutored over 25 students in the SAT. I am a University of Massachusetts, Amherst graduate with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, where I also hold math and art minors. I then attended Vancouver Film School and have edited several projects since. In recent years, I have discovered my passion for tutoring and have found few things as rewarding as being able to see individuals succeed due to my instructing. I truly enjoy helping others realize their potential and have been work [more]

My students have raised their scores significantly after their tutoring with me. I have gotten my Masters in physical science and a minor mathematics with coursework beyond Calculus. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and graduated from University of Hawaii at Manoa in May 2012 with a BS in Meteorology and a Minor in Mathematics. I have recently finished my Master's in Applied Meteorology at Mississippi State University in 2014 and recently finished a professional certificate in Geographic Information Systems in 2016. Throughout my education, I have gained a background in Chemistry, Phys [more]
