Hi! My name is Kevin, and I've been tutoring students of all ages and abilities for over nine years. My primary focus is STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), but I also help students succeed in computer programming and in test prep (ACT/SAT/GRE). I believe that, with the right support and attitude, anyone can learn to do anything! My students validate this belief every day. I began tutoring when I was getting my degree in mechanical engineering at Rose-Hulman (Terre Haute, IN),... [more]

I've been tutoring math and science plus ACT and SAT prep for 15 years. I have tutored from 5th grade up to College level math and science. In addition, I currently teach High School Math and Science. I love working one-on-one with students of all ages. I consider one of my greatest strengths to be the ability to explain difficult concepts in simple ways so that students can understand them. If one approach does not work, I will try others until I find something that works. I have a BS i... [more]

I have over 200 hours of volunteer and observation time in middle and high school classrooms. Over 150 hours of volunteer effort were in a 7th grade classroom. The student interactions were mostly to help in-class practice time with individuals or pairs. I also helped by taking small groups aside, typically one to three, who had missed class or quizzes to help them catch up and to improve the teacher's time efficiency. At the middle school, I volunteered afterschool with English Language Lear... [more]

The SAT Math Test is divided into 3 sections, separated by other non-math parts of the Test: 18 problems, 25 minutes; 20 problems, 25 minutes; and 16 problems; 20 minutes. There are a total of 44 multiple-choice questions and 10 student-produced response questions. The math sections of the SAT test cover mostly what the ACT test includes: algebra, geometry, statistics, but not trigonometry, absolute values, or some other areas. SAT Math Test prep includes review, strategies, taking practice tests, and even learning how to guess. Although a penalty of ? point is taken off for each incorrec [more]

I love and enjoy teaching chemistry to students of all ages to make a strong impact in their educational success, and, hopefully, inspire them toward science. My teaching objective is to ensure that the client had fully understood the subject matter at hand and that he/she is able to solve problems independently after benefiting from my services. I am committed to student success. I am a Ph.D. chemist with over 30 years of industrial experience and over 7 years of teaching experience as ... [more]

I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics, a minor in English, and am a classically trained piano teacher. I feel I am gifted at teaching. I believe anyone can excel in math. Anyone! There are rules to math, and most students don't realize this and stumble around in the dark, guessing at how to solve math problems. That's where I come in. I give my students the rules and then reinforce the rules with exercises and problems. Once students know the rules and develop confidence in their p... [more]

*As I'll be spending this summer on my college campus working in a lab during the day, I will most likely only accept online tutoring. I apologize for any inconvenience!* I have always enjoyed and had passion for helping others. Ever since high school, I have been a tutor for countless students from elementary school to those who are older than me. I have tutored through one of the world's largest academic enrichment program, my school, and privately. I really do love connecting with my stud... [more]

Hello! I?m finishing up an MS in atmospheric science at UIUC, having recently moved to Normal with my coursework completed and only the thesis to finish. I have a very broad background in science and math, which I like enough that it has been hard for me to figure out what exactly to study. I?ve accumulated a bunch of knowledge all over math and the sciences that I would love to share with you. Over the last decade, I?ve bounced around from science program to science program. I received my u... [more]
