My approach with SAT math is a combination of clarification, refreshment, and saturation. The SAT's, cover a wide breadth of mathematical knowledge. I help to fill in the gaps that students have in any of the subjects. Along with reeducating students in the subjects, I strongly encourage a lot of practice with SAT questions; familiarity with the style of questions that can appear on the test will give students a great advantage when they finally approach the exam. With over 15 years of tutoring experience and having graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Applied Mathematics from UCLA, I [more]

SAT math often makes students (and many a parent as well) very nervous. While the types of problems are not more difficult than the problems a student is required to solve during regular tests in their normal classes, there is the pressure of knowing that quite a bit of one's college opportunities ride on his or her score on this test. Plus, working under pressure is not easy for most people. My approach is requiring the student to take a sample test, seeing the overall score and checking for potential areas that reveal particular weaknesses, and working from there. Also, time management is e [more]

The math sections measure a student?s ability to reason quantitatively, solve mathematical problems, and interpret data presented in graphical form. These sections focus on four areas of mathematics that are typically covered in the first three years of American high school education: Arithmetic, Algebra and Functions, Geometry, and Data Analysis. The Algebra section was recently expanded to include basic College Algebra. What engenders a love of math? How can the door to its beautiful and fun aspects to be opened onto the numbers and their qualities, then remain open through algebra and beyon [more]

I am extraordinarily qualified to tutor SAT Math. I have been tutoring SAT Math for over 5 years. I love teaching and tutoring for standardized exams as they are as much based on style and technique as knowledge and understanding. As with the PSAT, passing on these secrets of great test-taking is a real joy and mastering those techniques is a skill any student can learn! It is a wonderful feeling for a dedicated student to go into a standardized exam knowing they're going to ace it, and I have helped students reach this peak many times. In terms of my relevant test scores, I have done well i [more]

I got trained this past summer and had to review two 200 page books in order to pass the training. I have now tutored over 25 students in the SAT. I am a University of Massachusetts, Amherst graduate with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, where I also hold math and art minors. I then attended Vancouver Film School and have edited several projects since. In recent years, I have discovered my passion for tutoring and have found few things as rewarding as being able to see individuals succeed due to my instructing. I truly enjoy helping others realize their potential and have been work [more]

I began tutoring other students while I was still in high school. I graduated from Caltech with a B.S., majoring in math and minoring in physics. I was awarded my Master?s degree in math from UCLA, tutoring to earn a living as I went through graduate school. I went on to a career in aerospace as an engineer and a second career as VP for Technical Marketing and Sales for several very large firms in the electronics industry. As part of my responsibilities, I set up training institutes to make o... [more]

People have told me for years that I'm a born teacher. I've tutored middle school math, helped people polish their movie scripts, and taught adult literacy. I have a wide range of interests and many areas of knowledge, including popular culture and all the arts, literature, genealogy, languages and collectibles. I... [more]

Your academic coach. My approach with students is to gently encourage and motivate them, while helping them focus and stay on task. I assist them with prioritizing their studies and expect them to be active participants in the learning process. I hold students accountable for their performance and expect them to do the work they commit to, rather than accepting excuses. I believe students can accomplish anything they put their minds to, and I understand that sometimes they require guidance in... [more]

I have taught the Mathematics portion of the SAT numerous times in the past, to groups and individuals. I go over the content and the math needed to understand. Throughout, I discuss solving strategies with the student, so that they understand what to expect and how to approach the questions. Hi everyone, My name is Matthew, and I am a UCLA grad with a bachelor of science in Electrical Engineering and a master of science in civil engineering. I have been doing private in-home tutoring in all areas of mathematics and physics for the past six years. My education in two entirely different fields [more]

I tutor for PSAT and SAT, as well as SAT Math 1 and Math 2 subject tests. If you were stranded on a deserted island, could you reinvent Algebra? Calculus? Trigonometry? I could! Not that that would be the most practical thing to do, but once you understand the basic concepts, you will be able to do the same. I am a strong believer in understanding concepts and knowing fundamentals, NOT in doing math by rote. I will certainly help you get your homework done and get better grades, but I will also make sure that you understand it! I teach students techniques... [more]
