The math portion of the SAT is a tricky test, and I will be happy to give you a lot of hints about what these College Board people have up their sleeves. With the recent revision of the test, skills such basic trigonometry and circle graphs are part of the deal. The good news is that if you know what you're doing, lengthy calculations aren't required. I'll help you review any necessary skills and then tackle strategies for this test. I have more than 30 years' experience teaching at the high school and university levels. I love my students and flourished working in the classroom. Now I am [more]

Hi, my name is Rachel, and I love to help students understand what they're learning in school. As a graduate of Biola University, I have found myself in a position to help students with what they do not understand. While at college, I spent some of my free time (when not working at the campus bookstore and doing my own homework) tutoring students in the local community. Since then, I have had the opportunity to regularly help students both with their homework and to help them learn concepts t... [more]

I have taught many students math for SAT and SAT II, including the new SAT. I helped design the math curriculum for a private tutoring agency for the new SAT math section. I am new to Portland, just moved from the SF Bay Area! I am looking forward to getting to know the city. So far I like it, though there is a lot of rain to deal with! I've tutored for three years in the San Jose area, mostly in math. I've taught kids from 5th grade up through 12th and some college students as well, covering all subjects up through calculus. (I don't do statistics though.) I have worked independently and for [more]

My entire life I have enjoyed teaching and helping others. Throughout high school and college, friends came to me for help in all subject areas; my teachers even grouped me with struggling students so that I could help them through difficult concepts and class work. After high school I attended the University of Oregon for a B.A. in Economics, with a minor in Mathematics, and a GPA of 3.67. In tutoring, I first focus on understanding exactly what a student is having trouble with, then use a ... [more]

I'm a Mechanical Engineer with five years of working experience who has always been drawn to helping others understand math and physics. This started in high school when I helped two of my closest friends gain a better understanding for physics. I am a big believer that different people learn in different ways, and I enjoy figuring out how to adjust the concept to the student rather than the other way around. By far my greatest passion and understanding lies in mathematics, though I am happy ... [more]

I've been training, teaching and tutoring on and off since 1987, and tutoring exclusively since 2005. I tutor simply because I enjoy helping others succeed by mastering the essential principles that will apply in all contexts. I specialize in preparing students for exams like the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT and MCAT, but can also help with advanced math, chemistry and physics at both the high school and college level. I can provide study material and several practice exams. I can usually help a ... [more]

I moved to Portland this September, from Europe (but I am a native U.S. citizen.). For the past 11 years, I lived and worked out of Milan, Italy. My primary client work was as a GMAT prep coach, and MBA application essay consultant. I also coached people preparing for the SATs (both individually and in an IB school class of 30+ high school students in Milan), the GRE, the ACT, the LSAT. I worked primarily in Milan, but also traveled to work with clients in Lausanne, Zurich and Geneva, Switze... [more]
