Hello students! I have been tutoring for the last 10 years and love it. My goal is to make math less intimidating by using logic in combination with real life examples to make the numbers make sense. Most people are able to fall back on these tactics in test scenarios so that they not only understand the method to solve the problems, but have a back-up plan in case they suddenly blank. Of course there will always be some memorization involved, but I try to keep that to a minimum! As so... [more]

SAT math is all about the logic, not just the problems. Mostly the problems on the SAT are designed to trick you into thinking the wrong way about it and conclude the wrong answer. Strategies can be used to help even the best math student do better and work faster to get more of the answers correct. Practice is the key and I have a great deal to offer. I am a Delaware and Pennsylvania certified Math and a Delaware certified Physics teacher who has spent the last 19 years teaching in Delaware high schools as well as Delaware Technical and Community College. I spent 7 years at the Oxford Lear [more]

Math has long been my favorite subject in school, and one of my strongest subjects as well. When my siblings and I were in high school, my parents bought SAT books for us and paid for tutors or tutoring programs for us so we could succeed on the SAT. I still have the books we used, and therefore have number of sources that I can use to teach the test strategy and how to solve problems on the SAT. I will use one book as the basis of instruction, and gather additional examples from the others to provide a thorough preparation for the SAT math test. [more]

Dear prospective student, Solving the problems is just half of the objective of a tutoring session. The most important thing is learning how to come from the basic principles (from lectures and notes) to the solution of each problem. With the ability to do that, you can solve similar problems on your quizzes, lab reports, tests, exams (SAT, SAT 2). If you have problems in Biology, General Chemistry, General Physics, Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I and II, I could be a resource for you. G... [more]

My initial SAT Math training comes from working at a local tutoring center. There I interacted with 10-12 students 2-3 times per week over the course of several months to prepare them for the Math section of the SAT. This experience prepared me for explaining not just how to solve math problems, but also good study techniques to pass on to students. It also provided me with a better understanding of the types of problems the SAT focuses on, as well as some of the simple math tips and tricks we learned so long ago in elementary school that really simplify some of those complicated problems [more]

I have extensive experience tutoring math through and beyond the Calculus level. I have been tutoring math and chemistry for numerous years. As a successful educator and tutor, I create a learning environment through which student knowledge is drawn out through proper guidance or facilitation. I attribute education to the following four active and fluid processes: 1) Guiding, 2) Inspiring, 3) Infecting, and 4) Learning. My approach is through the eyes of the student, where I create a nurturing environment that incites students to become involved in what they are learning, as they are learning it. In order to bring out the best fr... [more]

I've been tutoring since 1998 when I started helping my high school friends with their math homework. After that, I tutored for a national tutoring company for about five years until about 2005. Around that time, I struck out on my own, and provided in home math tutoring to middle school, high school, and college students for several years until 2008. Today, even though my career has taken me away from tutoring full-time, I continue to tutor math because it is one of my favorite subjects, ... [more]
