All students can learn! I currently hold a teaching License in Kansas, as well as North Carolina. I have been teaching for over 15 years, in special education, English, Math, Social Studies and Science. While I have primarily worked with grades 5 through 12, I am happy to work with lower grades! I do not mind traveling, if the situation requires it, and prefer to work in an environment with access to plenty of reference material, such as a public library. I have acquired teaching mat... In 2009, I took the SAT and scored a perfect 800 on the Critical Reading section. My overall SAT score and my score on the Reading section in particular was a large part of my acceptance to the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri, one of the highest rated in the world, on a full academic scholarship. I graduated from college in 2014. I have three years of experience tutoring a variety of subjects, including test prep for the ACT, SAT, PSAT and GED exams. The two types of ACT Reading questions are referring questions and reasoning questions. Referring questions which ask information that is directly stated in the passage is the easier. But they are not always straight forward. I will help students better understand this type of question and its pitfalls. The other type of question is the reasoning question which asks a student to draw conclusions from information that is implied in the passage. In other words, reasoning questions involve reading between the lines. I will help students to better understand what passage implies. [more]

Exceptional ACT Reading and English Tutor

I only took the SAT once, but the Reading section was one of my best sections. Vocabulary is one of my strong suits, and I know I can help students do well on this section of the SAT. Need some help studying for the ACT? Didn't get the score you were hoping for and/or needed? I can help! English and Reading are my strongest sections, but I can definitely help you create a study plan for the entire test. Dreading writing that essay for English, that lab report for biology, or that business plan to pass your senior level class? I can help! Writing is something I truly enjoy doing myself as wel [more]
