Certified, Full-Time Tutor of Most Subjects

As a full-time tutor, I have seen a lot of SAT students. My approach to the reading section is a bit unique. I have found it actually beneficial to start off with ACT reading practices instead to teach the foundations - speed, strategies, keywords, perspective, etc. - as those are often simpler to digest. I then transfer to the SAT to add in the extra concepts, such as vocabulary, evidence, and critical thinking. Of course, if it is desired that I focus entirely on the SAT, that is also an option; my goal is to set up a system that allows for students to best hone in their skills naturally. [more]

ACT English, Writing and English Lit Tutor

I have experience tutoring students in the Reading and Writing portions of the SAT. I assess the student's abilities by administering this part of the ACT exam, scoring it, and then providing feedback to both the student and parents regarding the testing results. I then go on to work with the student/s on their particular areas of weakness and re-test on a monthly basis to track improvement. I am a graduate of Oakland University with a BA (Magna Cum Laude) in English. College Writing and English Literature are my specialties, but I am also interested and skilled in tutoring high school student [more]
