Sciences, Test Prep, English & Math, Literature, and Biology

My passion for teaching was founded by my own experience as a student. Throughout my academic career, the challenges I encountered refined my own approach to understanding subjects, and the ensuing success after overcoming such obstacles brought me further love for learning and those subjects. I want to transmit that feeling of accomplishment to students as they master their own subjects, and hopefully foster a passion for further learning and success in any of their other endeavors. As a to... [more]

Master Tutor for Test Prep (SAT/ACT), Physics with Customized Lessons

The Language Art/Writing section of the SAT is combined with the Reading section. Each part has a maximum of 400 points to give the 800 point maximum for this test. The "Writing" part covers both grammar rules (about 15) and rhetoric (ordering sentences and paragraphs, adding or eliminating sentences). The grammar-type questions are mostly straightforward once you have relearned all the grammar rules. The rhetoric-type questions tend to be more subtle and more difficult to track down the best answer. [more]

Challenging Tutor Specializing in Lit, Analytical Writing and TestPrep

The SAT Writing/Language section is the most confusing for students because they expect to do very well and almost always are surprised at how difficult the conventions of the English Language are transformed into different contexts and different styles of passages. The good news is that it is very systematic and students immediately are able to pick up on patterns in the questions answered. For example, they will always pose questions on punctuation (the use of semi colon, colon, comma, etc.), which students just don't learn in school. In addition, they will always pose questions about the st [more]
