I tutor AP Statistics and college level introductory statistics courses for various disciplines: behavioral sciences, economics, health sciences, business, etc. Many students, who are new to statistics, think of it as ?pure math? subject. However, a big part in learning statistics is to apply statistical reasoning to the real world situations. I teach my students both the mathematical concepts of statistics and probability, and how to apply these concepts to word problems: recognize the statistical setting described in the scenario, then apply the correct method to solve the problem. When I began tutoring a few years ago, I firmly believed that anyone could do well in mathematics, all the way through Calculus, provided you are relatively fluent in a few formulas and make time for regular problem sets. My experience over that time has only confirmed my suspicions, and its has been a great pleasure to work with many of my students. I have always found joy in getting to the point of a big concept and keeping the focus on the purposeful real-world applications that many of ... [more]

I'm a lifetime learning enthusiast who loves to share! My focus is on compassionate instruction; I work to build up students study skills while mastering the material in a constructive, supporting environment. My formal education consists of a BS in Mathematics and a BA in Economics. I have supplemented these informally by reading widely in Philosophy, History, Political Science, Biology, and Physics. I have a great passion for the history of ideas, which allows me to convey a subject's pla... [more]

I am a lifelong student with a passion for learning new subjects and teaching what I've learned to others. As a tutor, I focus on crafting creative examples to make material more interesting, engaging, and relatable. My students appreciate my ability to make seemingly dull subjects fascinating and my commitment to helping them understand a concept from a variety of perspectives until it finally clicks. My formal education includes a Master's Degree in Public Policy and a Bachelor's Degree... [more]

Background: I studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT (graduating in 2009, and then in 2010 with a Masters.) I completed the Scheller Teacher Education Program, including coursework and student teaching, in 2010. I have worked as a substitute teacher at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, as well as privately (250+ hours.) Currently, I work in Operations at a Startup in SF. Why I tutor: Learning is fun and valuable, and I want to help others enjoy what I have. Over... [more]

I taught undergraduate math and statistics courses at UC Berkeley for about six years while I was a doctoral student. During that time I had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students at very different levels. I'm just as happy helping out students who just need to pass as I am working with students who are striving for that A+. I'm passionate about math and about teaching. My favorite part of graduate school was getting the chance to work with students one-on-one. Working ... [more]

I have been tutoring biology for six years and various subjects in math for over a decade. I have a true passion for learning and exploration in the hard sciences and want to convey to each and every student that while aspects of it may be challenging, the understanding of the world that comes from it is both beautiful and invaluable. I try to heavily focus on helping students answer their own questions to create interactions that allow them to experience for themselves, not merely witness, t... [more]

I've been teaching or tutoring for over twenty years in some form or another. For me the reward from tutoring is when I see that a student has caught onto an idea, when the light bulb goes on. In my career I've not only studied physics, mathematics and statistics, but applied them as well as time management and study skills. I can help a student succeed in all these areas. My career has included a PhD in Nuclear Physics, postdoctoral work in nuclear astrophysics and over twenty years of e... [more]

I worked for many years professionally with statistics and next to precalculus and calculus it is my most tutored topic. Statistics doesn't require advanced math classes but it requires a good understanding how to translate word problems into a mathematical form and vice versa. Most classes cover descriptive and inferential statistics using extensively the normal distribution, which also plays with the Student t-distribution a key role in hypothesis testing. I tutor statistics multiple times a week. "Excellent tutor." - Ricardo from San Mateo, CA Andreas has been an excellent tutor for my so [more]
