Hi, I'm Spencer! I graduated from renowned Trinity College Dublin with a Master's in Biodiversity, awarded Distinction for my research in the ecology of temporary lakes called turloughs. Before grad school I worked as a research zookeeper, breeding and studying endangered amphibians, and conducting biodiversity surveys. While the fieldwork and study was fascinating, my favorite part was getting to go out and communicate the findings, which drew me toward teaching and tutoring. Throughout ... [more]

I have taken a number of Statistics courses, a list which includes elementary statistics, probability and statistics for engineers, mathematical statistics, and biostatistics, to name a few. I have also tutored many students in statistics ranging from high school to graduate level. It is therefore a subject in which I am very strong and very comfortable thanks to my extensive exposure to it. Tutoring in the San Antonio area. I have a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Physics from Prairie View A&M University. My approach to tutoring is flexible and, more to the point, effective. While I do h [more]

I am a Certified Public Accountant and the son of a Naval Aviator (he flew airplanes in the Navy). My mother was very active in whatever community she was in during her entire life. Math has always been the one thing that came natural to me. I grew up in a STEM and business family where crunching numbers was an everyday affair; be it from my accounting mother, economics father, educationalists uncle and aunt, or even from my engineering and science geek uncles! Thankfully the Math love bug bit me and it's one of those things I'll forever be grateful for. I have come to the realization that Math does not come naturally to many people out there and this has made me more p... [more]

Although I had small class sizes, most if not all my students passed the AP Stats exam with at least the minimum score. My masters degree required courses in probability theory which is one of the topics in a standard stats class. I also taught the class using graphing technology, so the student would learn using it as well. The trend in stats is conceptual understanding and knowing what to do with data. This approach frees the student to master thinking versus numerical number crunching. I have always enjoyed the field of mathematics and have a passion and desire to share it with others. [more]
