Does learning math seem daunting? It doesn't have to be, and I can help you learn and have fun doing it. As a public policy adviser for more than 20 years, I've advised governors, mayors, legislators and other senior officials on making wise policy decisions. In this role, I've benefited from a mastery of quantitative analysis and a pragmatic understanding of how influence is best achieved. I took algebra beginning in 5th grade and scored an 800 on the math section of my SAT and 790 on the... [more]

Statistics have always fascinated me, and I find them to be one of the necessary foundational pieces of knowledge people need to navigate the world. As a certified teacher, I have taught the concepts of statistics at many levels of math. Mathematics is often so confusing and so boring, but it doesn't have to be that way! Math is not some mysterious subject that only a few can comprehend, but just another element of knowledge in general. As with any discipline, practice leads to proficiency, and that practice needs to be guided by an expert. No one gains mastery in any subject without guidance. [more]

Currently serving as a Research and Data Analyst, I previously taught Quantitative Methods to both undergraduate and masters students as well as serving as a consultant for non-profits, government agencies, and doctoral students who needed statistical guidance on their dissertation. Additionally, I held weekly open hours where students/faculty could seek help regarding R, Stata, econometrics/statistics, as well as other statistical software. I believe in providing tutoring that makes sense to... [more]

I have a degree in Mathematics from Alvernia University. I tutored at Northampton Community College from 1999-2015, so I have seen many things in my time. I am one of those people who has been tutoring my entire life; that 'smart' kid who sat next to you, the one who could explain everything to you in a far easier manner, yes, that's me. I love being that person who makes your present area of weakness your new-found strength. Tutoring is a very personal, very rewarding occupation for me beca... [more]

I have been tutoring math and chemistry for numerous years. I have tutored students since I was in junior high school and continued through college. My major in college was chemical engineering. I have experience with students of all ages. Everyone I have worked with has increased their grade by at least two to three grade letters. The people I have worked with and for have always been happy with my services and are especially pleased with the level of patience I exhibit when tutoring. P... [more]

I have tutored for the courses STAT 430 and STAT 512 at the University of Pennsylvania, covering the standard advanced undergraduate probability curriculum (normal, binomial, chi-squared, exponential, Poisson, Beta distributions, etc.; conditional probability, joint probability, variance, expectation, moments) as well as statistics curriculum (minimal variance unbiased estimators, Cramer-Rao, Rao-Blackwell, likelihood estimation, hypothesis testing). I am currently a graduate student and teaching assistant in Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania. During the course of my studies I have [more]

I recently finished a second master's degree in engineering and am looking for regular tutees in the area. As far as my experience with teaching goes, I tutored through Wyzant before I graduated undergrad (I did physics at Stockton), and then I was a high school teacher for 1 year. After that year, I got a professional engineering job and eventually went off to get two masters (one in Physics and one in engineering). My specialization is in advanced topics in mathematics, physics, engineeri... [more]

During my Sociology studies, I earned 24 credit hours in various Statistics and Statistical Analyses courses. I assisted the Center for Survey Research with the 1992 Gallup Polls, both with the preparation of the survey tool and with the analysis of the data. Finally, I am familiar with various statistical packages, such as SPSS and SAS. I have experience teaching/tutoring across the spectrum of ages, from elementary through university, in a wide variety of disciplines. I am well versed in teaching methodologies and am able to design a style best-suited to the individual student's needs to [more]
