As an Educational Specialist, I have worked with countless students in all areas of the TEAS, and TEAS prep is my all time favorite! To insure greatest success, I assess each student's skills and then review all important content in all four areas, English, math, reading and science. In addition, I provide extra practice for students to complete between sessions. This helps insure greater mastery for this important test. The TEAS is a timed test with a total of 170 questions and uses an objective/computerized format. This test is used to measure a prospective nursing student?s skills and is [more]

I have an applied math degree and understand that math portion of this test is 38 middle and high school math questions in 51 minutes. I have recent experience tutoring a student for this test. We used one of her books in addition to some practice printouts. The math test requires knowing and writing down simple formulas and solving basic math problems involving decimals and fractions. There are some equations as well to solve. I like to teach multiple methods to find the most comfortable one for the student. [more]

Prior tutoring for TEAS candidates for nursing programs consisted of 2 years of walking students through the basic math properties including algebra and geometry. Assisting students with reading comprehension and encouraging students to take the paper test versus the computer test due to keystrokes and time was valuable for all of my students. The science entailed basic chemistry formulas to work out elementary problems and learn differential analysis in a step by step problem so that each student could understand where the weakness lay. The TEAS reading portion took the most time helping s [more]

Nursing requires applicants to complete either the HESI or TEAS assessment as part of the competitive admission process. It is a basic high school assessment in Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Grammar, as well as basic sciences. My doctoral research involved assessing the efficacy of entrance exams in predicting successful completion of a health science program and eventual success on the state licensing exam. I am a nursing educator at both the technical (LPN) and professional (RN) levels. [more]
