As noted above, trigonometry is usually encountered as a part of a pre-calculus course. In my view, much of the traditional material associated with trigonometry should be replaced by an introduction to the linear algebra of vectors, which provides alternative methods of solving many of the problems encountered in trigonometry, and is much more generally useful. I am an experienced high school physics and mathematics teacher, retired, with current Massachusetts certification in both areas. I have taught various levels of mathematics--through calculus--as standalone courses and as part of the [more]

I have tutored students in Trigonometry for over 15 years, both privately and for the Lexington Public school system as a Home/Hospital tutor. I truly enjoy and have been fortunate to have helped each student gain confidence, be successful learning Trigonometry, improve their grades and meet their goals. I am certified; my degree is in math. I have tutored students at all levels up through accelerated and all abilities, from struggling to gifted, as well as those with special needs. Do you want better grades and test scores? Do you want to get the most from your classes? Is something holding y [more]

My primary exposure to trigonometry is from my physics background. I was a physics major in college, and worked as an engineer at Raytheon Company to help design and build radar systems. Radars manipulate electromagnetic waves, and the sine and cosine functions from trig are used to describe all waves. The trigonometry functions are used extensively in many branches of physics to decompose problems into simpler ones. I teach college physics at Massasoit Community College and each course I teach has a brief trig review. You cannot seriously learn physics without trigonometry. When I taught hi [more]

I've been tutoring math and physics to high-school and middle-school students in the Canton, Dedham, Sharon, Norwood and Stoughton area for fifteen years. I've tutored nearly all the students I've worked with for many years, and I've also frequently tutored their brothers and sisters - also for many years. I enjoy helping my students to understand and realize that they can not only do the work - they can do it well and they can understand what they're doing. My references will gladly provi... [more]

I am an experienced tutor in math, chemistry, and physics currently working for the Newton Public Schools. I am currently licensed to teach mathematics at the high school and middle school levels, and expect to obtain my certification to teach chemistry later this year. In addition to my experience teaching at the high school level, I also have prior experience teaching at the college level - first as a TA in graduate school in Colorado and later as a TA at Harvard. In both cases I taught cla... [more]

I work with students on understanding trigonometric concepts for both math and physics classes. I also work with students on trigonometry for standardized tests, such as the ACT and SAT 2. My focus is on overall understanding and knowing how to apply concepts rather than on simply memorizing equations. I am a Dartmouth College grad and current MBA student with 16 years of professional tutoring experience and outstanding student results. I've helped coach students to 300+ point improvements on the SAT, 5+ point improvements on the ACT and 25%+ improvements on the SSAT and ISEE. I have particula [more]

I offer science and math teaching for under-challenged, over-challenged, home schooled, twice-exceptional, interrupted, and other non-traditional learners. I have ten years of experience as a teacher, and have been a dedicated private tutor since 2013. I've worked with many wonderful students who are constantly teaching me that there's a different "best teaching strategy" for every learner. The modern classroom doesn't serve the needs of all students. Too many students believe that they ar... [more]
