Hi my name is Matt and I am a Graduate Physics student at the University at Buffalo. I graduated in 2017 with a degree in Physics and a minor in mathematics. After my completion of graduate school, I will pursue becoming a research professor at a top tier university. I have been tutoring through Wyzant for nearly three years now. My tutoring experience extends outside of my time here with Wyzant to my early years as an undergraduate and sometime in High School. I specialize in tutoring A... [more]

I found trig to be the purest form of high school math. I loved it as a kid and had almost a perfect year when I took the subject. I scored 100% on the regents exam with quarterly grades of 98 or 99 all quarters. Although that was in 1965-66 I still have a complete understanding of trig and believe that I could make most students understand how it works. Although I was a meteorologist for 40 years I always loved math more than anything and always wanted to teach students who found math a challenge or difficult. I have had almost 5 years of experience tutoring math including algebra, geom [more]

Hello, my name is Nathaniel. I attained my B.S. with honors from the University of Michigan with a major in Physics and minor in Mathematics. While enrolled, I worked as a research assistant for two professors who specialize in Biophysics and Astrophysics. I have an extensive background in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy. I am now a graduate student at the University at Buffalo working towards a Ph.D. in Physics. I currently work as a Teaching Assistant at UB, where I teach... [more]

My name is Abbey and I'd love to be your tutor. I have been tutoring for over five years. I am a former MIT student and I graduated from UAlbany with a BS in Mathematics and Statistics and a minor in Economics. I have a lot of experience tutoring. I recently moved to Buffalo from Albany. While I was in Albany, I worked with three private local tutoring companies. In addition to those, as you can see, I am a tutor with WyzAnt. I have logged over 5,000 tutoring hours at WyzAnt. I was ran... [more]

I truly enjoy seeing those I teach "get it" and have that "ah ha" moment. A structural engineer by trade, I have to continually learn new things each and every day. It's my job! Math is my specialty of course, but I don't fit the mold as a typical engineer as I enjoy interacting with people too. Tutoring experience? Well...besides the hours on wyzant tutoring mostly algebra and trigonometry I have previously volunteered to teach at engineering outreach events at the Buffalo Museum of Sci... [more]

I have been developing software for over 30 years. I started as a 14 year old with BASIC on a Commodore 64, moving on to assembly language and writing complex 8-bit algorithms while still a teenager. In college, I studied Computer Engineering with a focus on software, and received my Master's degree in 1993. During my college career, I learned fundamentals of computer hardware and software design, as well as electrical engineering concepts, probability and statistics, queuing theory, computer... [more]

Hi! I have a PhD in mathematics from UW- Madison and I have been tutoring students for over 10 years. As a doctoral student I taught algebra, geometry, calculus, differential equations and other higher level mathematics courses. I began as a Harper Math Tutor at the University of Chicago when I was an undergraduate. I then became an SAT math private tutor in the Los Angeles area where I also helped high school students understand subjects like trigonometry, algebra, and calculus. I have he... [more]

I am most capable of tutoring in Trigonometry. I break down the concepts into smaller parts. I like to use repetition, key phrases and mnemonics to help my students remember the concepts. For example, to remember the relationship of the sides of a right triangle and the functions sine, cosine, tangent: Oscar Had A Headache Over Algebra (sine=Opposite/Hypotenuse, cosine=Adjacent/Hypotenuse, tangent=Opposite/Adjacent). I make flashcards for the students. I have found that this helps the students to quickly review the concepts and commit them to memory. [more]

Hi, my name is Frank. I graduated from the University of Buffalo with a BA in Mathematics and a provisional certification (now expired) to teach High School Mathematics.
