Over the years, I have helped multiple students succeed in trigonometry. While trigonometry may seem abstract and irrelevant to real life, it actually describes many real-world phenomena such as waves and optics. I help students understand the "why" behind each topic, so that they are able to move away from memorization. I have over 8 years of experience tutoring high school and college math and physics. I have tutored physics (including regular, honors and AP), prealgebra, algebra I, geometry, algebra II, precalculus, trigonometry, calculus, GRE math, ACT math, SAT math, math enrichment, a [more]

I hold a Master's degree in Engineering from Santa Clara University. I live with my husband in San Mateo and work for a Software Company in San Francisco as my primary job. As a certified Reiki Master practitioner, I learned to stay calm and patient from daily meditations. I have tutored over 400 hours with Wyzant (at least 3,000 hours in lifetime). I did a lot of peer tutoring in both undergraduate and graduate school as my greatest hobby. I am also familiar with BYU online High School ... [more]

Since so many homework and exam problems in trig involve multiples of 30 and 45 degrees, I show all my students how to derive all the trig functions for those angles based on only two facts that need to be memorized: sine 30 degrees= 1/2, and tangent 45 degrees=1. It's nice to go into an exam knowing that one can derive all those trig function values based on just two memorized facts. I have over 30 years of experience as a tutor and lecturer in mathematics and physics, both before and after I completed my physics & biology BA at UC Berkeley and my physics PhD at the University of Illinois. I'm an expert in working with students to develop skills and to understand concepts. My expertise is especially strong in problem solving, and applying concepts to real world situations. I enjoy working with students. When my son was in college, we used to problem solve on the phone and via email. His classmates wanted him to "rent me out". I'm a 25-year veteran of Silicon Valley with multiple degrees in Engineering. I am currently an Adjunct Professor at the Golden Gate University Schoo... [more]

When I began tutoring a few years ago, I firmly believed that anyone could do well in mathematics, all the way through Calculus, provided you are relatively fluent in a few formulas and make time for regular problem sets. My experience over that time has only confirmed my suspicions, and its has been a great pleasure to work with many of my students. I have always found joy in getting to the point of a big concept and keeping the focus on the purposeful real-world applications that many of ... [more]

I have tutored many students in Trigonometry, very often as part of a course in Precalculus, or as a stand alone course. In addition to the SohCahToa definition of trig functions (using the right triangle), I teach students the Unit Circle approach: the definitions of the six trigonometric functions, the radian measure of angles, and finding exact values of these functions for special angles. Once these skills are mastered, I teach students how to graph the Sinusoidal functions and the rest of the trigonometric functions, including the inverse (arc) functions. I also help my students become [more]

I received a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry a Bachelor's of Arts in Economics along with a minor in Science and Mathematics Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara during my undergraduate career. During this time, I was actively involved in science outreach programs for elementary students, peer tutoring services and held a student teacher position in a high school chemistry class. By working with different ages and varying degrees of skill I've found the best way to c... [more]

I have a rigorous academic background including substantial trigonometry work, and have experience tutoring dozens of student in trigonometry. I am an experienced math and science tutor with a strong academic background. I graduated with high honors (3.93 GPA) from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in physics. In addition to my core physics classes and labs, I took a variety of technical classes in subjects such as econometrics, organic chemistry, differential equations, linear algebra, and biology. I also have conducted research on the photoluminescence of two-dimension [more]

Hi, my name is Shirlly. I am a proud Vanderbilt University graduate with a degree in economics. I also hold a bachelor's degree in finance. I am an expert in Maths. I love it not only because it is my strength, but the joy that brought by solving a challenging problem, which I would like to share with my students. In the past years, I've successfully functioned as devoted private tutor in advanced math, statistics , economics, finance in all levels. I specialized in tutoring in Calculus, Pr... [more]
