I am a certified secondary math teacher. I have tutored trigonometry several times over the years, the most recent just last school year. I find trigonometry to be one of the most real-life applicable courses. One of my favorite things to do is to help students get that "Ah, ha!" moment. My first tutoring job helped me decide to pursue teaching as my career. I believe that everyone can learn and it is my job, as a teacher, to find the way the student learns best. The methods that work for one student may not work for another student. The challenge of finding what works for each of my stu [more]

For me, trigonometry ("trig") was a fun semester in high school. It can be for you, too. Let me show you how. I aced trig and can get you going more quickly through the material, with better results. It's a simple plan: I guide, you drill. The trig functions (sine, cosine, tangent, etc.) and identities (e.g. [sin^2]A + [cos^2]A = 1 [where "^2" means "squared"], etc.) can all be pictured on a graph of the unit circle. This makes things easier for visual learners as it helps you make sense of the equations. As in many math courses, the kinds of problems you can solve expand. This is always fun [more]

Originally from England, I graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Mathematics. As a tutor I enjoy meeting students of all backgrounds and abilities, thinking through problems together and making progress in understanding the concepts behind the questions. I personally find math fascinating and beautiful, and I love sitting down with a student to help him or her to explore areas that they had not previously encountered or understood. My belief is that when a student understands (... [more]

I am a graduate student at UCSD working towards a PhD in physics, and currently studying mathematical physics. I have a variety of mathematical and scientific interests, which seem to be constantly expanding. I have a lot of experience teaching physics and mathematics at the undergraduate level as a TA (teaching assistant), which has constituted my employment over the course of the past two years. I also have some experience with private tutoring, which again has been largely at the undergrad... [more]

I've been a tutor for three years. I got my start tutoring at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, OR, where I worked in the tutoring center helping students with math, physics, chemistry, and writing. During my time at Chemeketa, I took a series of extra classes for tutors, overseen by the Chemeketa Tutoring Department and the College Learning and Reading Association, that certified me as a Master Tutor. I transferred from Chemeketa after getting my AA and attended UC Berkeley with a major ... [more]
