***My Experience*** In my 10+ years as an educator and tutor I've worked one-on-one with dozens of students on test prep (SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, PSAT, GRE, GMAT, and Regents), academic subject support (math, physics, chemistry, and Spanish), writing, and college application coaching. My students range in age from 10 to 50 and come from diverse educational backgrounds. I graduated magna cum laude in English from Harvard University, and I have a master's degree from Columbia University, wher... [more]

I have taught and tutored trig and algebra 2 to many students, and have helped them succeed in their math studies. I have also assisted them in preparing for such exams as the NY State Regents exam and the SATs. I am very well equipped to be a math tutor, having taught math to junior and senior high school students in private schools in the Riverdale-Manhattan area for over 30 years. In this capacity, I have trained students to master Algebra, Geometry, and Trig, as well as basic mathematics, with excellent results. In my position, I also prepared students for the New York State Regents exa [more]

Hello I am Sumaiya and I am a graduate of The Bronx High School of Science and a freshman in Macaulay Honors College at City College, majoring in Computer Science. Although I am not a professional tutor or teacher, I have had plenty of experience teaching other students. I tutored students at my high school as part of the National Honor Society program. Tutoring not only helps my tutees, but also helps me. It allows me to keep learning as well as help others learn. It's a great way to intera... [more]

Hello students and parents, My name is Justin, and I am a software engineer at Google in NYC. In my spare time, I do private tutoring with a specialization in math, computer science, and SAT/ACT prep. I enjoy working with students and sharing my passion for math & CS. It is always my goal to not only help students understand the concepts, but also to make things fun by explaining real life applications. I received a Master's degree in Computer Science from Drexel University, where I also wo... [more]

The trigonometry of the right triangle is introduced, including the basic functions sine, cosine and tangent and their cofunctions. Radian measure of angles is presented, and the trigonometric functions are defined for arbitrary angles. The trigonometric functions are graphed, with a discussion of their amplitude, period and phase shift. Inverse trigonometric functions are introduced. The laws of cosine and sine are proved and applied to solving triangles. Basic trigonometric identities are proved, including half angle and double angle identities. [more]

The keys to success in trigonometry are a strong grasp of 3-4 basic concepts (such as the unit circle, the concept of inverse functions, periodicity, and the pythagorean identity) and learning how to apply them to various situations. Too often students struggle with trigonometry because of the sheer number of different formulas and identities involved; under my tutelage, students learn how to generate and derive knowledge rather than simply memorizing and regurgitating it. I show them effective and reliable substitutions and content-based strategies to enable them to solve trigonometry problem [more]

If you're looking for somebody to either help you catch up in math, or get ahead in math, I'm your guy. I was a math major at Washington University in St. Louis, and minored in German, economics, and writing. While there, I tutored students in everything from counting to calculus, and beyond. I then earned a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Bard College in '07. I've been tutoring for 12+ years, and full-time for 9+. I've had students between the ages of 6 and 66, with a focus on high sch... [more]

I continuously tutor my students through the school year and I have successfully prepared more than ten students for Regents. I have tutored and prepared students for Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trig, Geometry, Physics, Biology, Earth and Space Science Regents. Every one of my students have passed their Regents, often with honors. I had one student that had previously failed a Regents exam and with my help, he passed his next retest. I have a strong, proven track record of successful preparation of Regents. [more]

I have been tutoring for 11 years, since I was a senior in high school. Most recently I was a high school math teacher, teaching Common Core Geometry and Common Core Algebra II/ Trigonometry. After school hours I would tutor any of my students, as well as any students who were not even my students because they enjoy learning with me. I have taught for 3 school years as a full-time teacher. The best thing about tutoring is that I get to know who I'm teaching much better and can really t... [more]

I am a full-time high school physics and engineering teacher, and have both taught and tutored in high school math and chemistry as well. Trigonometry can often seem like a list of abstract and incomprehensible equations to be memorized; in reality, it's based on some key spatial relations and proportions, and by focusing on those, I can help students understand the formulas that come from them. I find nothing more rewarding than helping students to deeply understand how things work and to watch them grow more and more confident in their own abilities. I am a full-time high school physics and [more]
