I got an A+ in Trig in high school. I have a Master's of Mechanical Engineering and you can't get that without having a strong understanding of Trigonometry. In 4 years of High School, 4 years of College, and 2 years of Graduate School, I learned innumerable things about a wide variety of topics, but the most important lesson I learned was this: the students who get A's are not necessarily the most naturally gifted in the class, but are the almost always the hardest workers. Sooner or later, everyone finds themselves struggling to stay on top of their classwork, and when that happens, it's the [more]

I've tutored a wide variety of students from 4th grade to Ph.D. level in many math and science disciplines. I've also co-led several writers' workshops, and I'm a professional writer and editor of math and science textbooks. My educational background is in biochemical engineering. I received a full academic scholarship to Penn State and an NSF fellowship to MIT for graduate school. I'm certified to teach chemistry in Massachusetts, and I've won a national writing award for my work. My tutori... [more]

I helped many students in Trigonometry in my high school and college years. I always loved studying mathematics and helping others make significant progress in it. Many of my skills come from my participation in several mathematics Olympiads. I minored in math and physics in college. I also have a Master's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. I graduated from University of Massachusetts Boston with an M.Ed. in LTET in 2012. I have heard many times how many in America are struggling in mathematics, a subject that I consider to be extremely important, and a lot of fun. In late middle scho [more]

Math and physics are hard--that's why I'm here to help you survive and thrive! I'm Rahul, a recent graduate from Boston University. I was a teaching assistant for introductory physics for three years at BU, and have over 400 hours of tutoring experience. I have tutored students in Physics (I and II), Discrete Math, High School Math (Trigonometry, Calculus etc.) and Circuits. I focus heavily on conceptual understanding and long-term retention over simple test preparation, and I prefer to teach using visual and interactive methods when possible. I have previously worked... As noted above, trigonometry is usually encountered as a part of a pre-calculus course. In my view, much of the traditional material associated with trigonometry should be replaced by an introduction to the linear algebra of vectors, which provides alternative methods of solving many of the problems encountered in trigonometry, and is much more generally useful. I am an experienced high school physics and mathematics teacher, retired, with Massachusetts certification in both areas. I have taught various levels of mathematics--through calculus--as standalone courses and as part of the content [more]
