I have over 5 years of tutoring trigonometry. Trig was the first "advanced subject" that I became the expert tutor for at Sylvan Learning Center. My name is Seth. I have loved math every since I was a little kid. It was the subject that always made sense to me and I found fun in the ability to solve problems. This passion that I have is shown in my tutoring style. I try to show how math isn't just a lame subject, but try to show how to be enthusiastic about it. I have tutored almost every subject in math while I was a math teacher at Sylvan Learning Center. My expertise is in more advanced ma [more]

Yes, it is literally true; I won Tutor of the Year at Madison College (MATC) in 2011, working almost exclusively as a math tutor. (I started off as a Spanish tutor.) I LOVE math and traditionally have worked well with people who DON'T love math or struggle with it. I can cover all or algebra from memory; about 90% of trig as well (although for a few topics a heads-up would help so I can review); and I will be reviewing my calc soon so I can offer that as well. (I have taken it through C... [more]

As an experienced and patient tutor of physics and of math subjects through calculus and college first year linear algebra and differential equations, my great delight is in seeing the "light bulb" of comprehension in my students' faces. These subjects are not as difficult as they often seem to my students before they meet with me. My concrete illustrations and introductory exercises have been highly successful in getting students on track for academic success and in recognizing their own unt... [more]

I prefer student-centered approach over instructor-centered approach. Learning should be fun and personal. I love teaching. I started tutoring kids and teaching them origami during my high school years. I tutored physics and chemistry at the learning center in a college during my undergraduate years. I graduated with a PhD in chemistry. Currently, I am obtaining a Masters in education. I have taught for 10+ years in different schools, including some of the largest and top-ranked universities.... I am an engineer. In 2007, I received a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from University of Wisconsin - Madison. Although my professional career has been as an engineer, I have extensive experience in providing child care and tutoring. My experience in child care began when I turned 11 and started to babysit children from my neighborhood. Between the ages of 17 and 19, I worked as a camp counselor for a summer day camp. The summer camp was divided two sessions each day: the mor... [more]

I am a teacher and instructor with over 7 years in classrooms with students from the 7th grade through college. My students are extremely successful on every high school end-of-course exam and that success continues in their future math classes. Why? We work together to develop intuition, critical thinking strategies, and perseverance. I have training as a SAT instructor as well.... [more]

I am a network engineer by profession working in the public sector for the past two years. I love teaching as much as I love my industrial job. Prior to doing my Master's in the U.S., I used to teach grade 10 and grade 12 students Math (Algebra and Geometry) and Science (Physics and Chemistry). I have had excellent past successes with my students of having passes grade 10 and 12 with minimum of 7.0/10 GPA. I love literature too as much as I like Math and Science. I read a lot be it News, A... [more]

I have over 25 years experience teaching physics and mathematics from elementary to graduate level. I have taught students topics ranging from the beginning of algebra to partial differential equations. I know the material and know what difficulties people have ... [more]

I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2012 with an undergraduate degree in aerospace engineering and a minor in mathematics. I have a passion for math and science, particularly physics, and for helping the next generation of students gain an interest in STEM fields. Many students have a real knack for math until they hit a roadblock - be it algebra, geometry, calculus, or another new math concept. I aim to help these students learn how to approach problems in a way that will not just ... [more]

I've tutored all levels of mathematics to students of all ages, including adults. I believe a solid understanding of mathematics is essential to a well-rounded education, and my goal is not only for the student to be able to successfully complete the problems but to truly understand the reasoning behind the computations. I love working with people and strive to create a comfortable atmosphere where the student is not afraid to ask questions, even if they think it may be a "dumb" question. ... [more]
