First, I would like to thank you for considering me as your math or science tutor and offer you some insight into my background on the topics. I spent most of my high school years in various math, science, and computational classes. This is where I first learned about Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Physics, and Calculus. Once I was in college, it was easy for me to choose Physics as a major. Through much stubborn determination, I finished my degree with a 3.3 GPA and working understandi... [more]

I tutored math from semester 3 calculus down to basic math, including trigonometry. Hi, I'm described as a good "explainer" by friends and family. I know math; I know the math that you are studying; and I know how the math you learned before connects to today's lesson. Teaching in public school, I am used to breaking down all subjects (including calculus) into their most basic parts. Many times, math looks hard because all of the little tricks and simplifications that a teacher can take when they know math. I may know that the variable "x" is different from the mult... [more]

I spent the last 29 years at South Milwaukee High, teaching everything from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus AB, retiring in spring of 2017. I was the AP Calculus AB instructor there from 2012-2017. I served in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger where I was an electronics technician specializing in cryptologic communication repair. After serving our country, I worked as a union and non-union carpenter for over 8 years. An extraordinary opportunity arose and I started my own carpenter service. That business eventually employed 26 men and women of diverse backgrounds. I was forced to close the business due to two cervical spine surgeries that resulted in paralysis of my right a... [more]

Some schools/classes are structured so that this class is either taken by itself, or in combination with college level algebra. If the class is taken by itself, it is the class that one takes right before moving into calculus. Trigonometry is mainly a geometry class that it focused on triangles and circles. Here we learn the six trigonometric functions and how they relate to the Cartesian Coordinate system. You will also learn how to solve right triangles and how to convert from degree measure to radian measure which allows you to solve a multitude of problems and give real world answers.
