I know Trigonometry very well and have a lot of experience teaching and tutoring this sometimes difficult subject. There are a ton of formulas and identities that many teachers ask students to memorize, however, I don't. I approach Trigonometry more logically, and limit the formula and identity memorization to an absolute minimum. If can be easily derived, why clutter your brain with another memorized formula. Instead, let's understand it. I have been teaching and tutoring math since I was in college, and have been doing it professionally for the last 15 years. I tutor mostly high school an [more]

We have fun with topics including the unit circle, SOHCAHTOA, the Law of Sines, and the Law of Cosines. I show the student how to use easy, logical, and intuitive formulas for finding the arc length of a circle and the area of a sector. We derive and work with trig formulas such as the sin and cos of a sum or difference, half angle, and double angle. And, I show the student quick and easy ways to graph all of the six trig functions. I believe students should be confident in their math skills. By getting good grades in school, their options in life (e.g. jobs, career paths) are kept open. I [more]

Trigonometry is, to me, the introduction of the potency of geometric analysis. At last, students will find those concepts from algebra and geometry unified into some type of analytic tool. From the mystifying exercises of Proving Trigonometric Identities to the seemingly odd habits of Modifying Periodic Functions, I expect students will sense an intimidating breed of techniques compose this subject. Here, my familiarity with methods like Fourier Analysis and its underlying theory (like Parseval's theorem and L2 convergence) excels at providing me the necessary insight to assist any student [more]

I have 12 years paid tutoring experience and a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from UCSD with a minor in Science Education. Most of my tutoring experience is with students between grades 7-12 primarily in Mathematics and science, but I also tutor Spanish, English, and College level Mathematics and Sciences. I can come to you, either at your home or a neutral location such as a library. I love learning and I love helping others learn. It makes me really happy to see students succeed and grow in... I have tutored and studied, at a graduate level, a broad range a math topics focusing on calculus and statistics. I have found math tutoring to be one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Many students report that they do not like math and/or are not good at math. Many of the people I have tutored have experienced success in math for the first time and that success was all they needed to change their mind, at least somewhat, on both counts. I love math, and it is very rewarding ... [more]

I have more than 15 years of experience in tutoring students of all ages and levels of education from elementary to graduate school. I am most interested in changing the way my students perceive themselves when approaching math. Throughout the years, I have had the most rewarding experience when my students, besides turning their grades around, feel empowered to the point they become a math resource to their classmates. I take my classes very personally and work together with parents to ident... [more]

7 years of tutoring experience in Algebra 1 and 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus and Physics. I just graduated a year ago from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I got a bachelors in electrical engineering and almost got a minor in math. I've been tutoring math since I was a junior in high school and have also been a personal grader for math, physics, and engineering professors at my university. I've tutored people in various math subjects and helped students get 5's on AP exams and fini... [more]

I am a UCI honors graduate in mathematics with a minor in computer science. I started tutoring as a favor for a friend and have found that tutoring is one of the most rewarding experiences I can have. Many of my students have gone from D's with no understanding to A's with the ability to peer tutor their classmates. It is always wonderful to enter a student's home and hear "I got an A on the test!" or "the teacher says I am her most improved student." I look for the concepts that students... [more]
