I just love math altogether. When someone mentions that they are struggling in math or are stuck on something, I get excited and immediately offer help without second thought. I just love seeing the "light bulb" reaction or the "oh" reaction when you can tell that they actually understand it. If I ask if they get it and they say "no" or "kind of" then I try to approach the problem at a different angle or try to go through it slower and explain each part. As for tutoring experience, I usual... [more]

I taught in a private high school in PA and then a public high school in VA before I became a stay-at-home mom to my three children. I started tutoring for extra income and liked it so much I never went back to full time teaching. One of my children has learning disabilities and individual attention and tutors were essential to his educational success. That was valuable experience I have been able to apply to students who struggle with learning in the traditional classroom sett... [more]

I have taught in public schools in Virginia for 19 years, teaching everything from Math 7 through Calculus. I also teach physics, and have taught various topics in engineering. I am very patient, and my biggest strength is my ability to explain difficult material in a manner that allows the student to truly grasp the topic. I really like to tutor because so much can be accomplished on a one-on-one basis as opposed to a large classroom setting. I can teach any elementary or middle school ma... [more]
