As an engineer I use trigonometry all the time and have also helped many students master these skills. Trig is a very important topic to know and is a gateway to understanding higher math. If you are serious about this subject and hire me to help you, you will gain strong competency in this area. Math, Physics and Engineering are my main areas and I have a solid record of success helping students as a tutor. Most have improved by two grade points. Recently, I earned a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech and won an award from ASME for my dissertation work. I am patient, [more]

I'm Tim, a senior Chemistry student at Virginia Tech. I graduated from Ocean Lakes High School's Math and Science Academy with an advanced studies diploma. In high school, I was fortunate to have academy teachers who cared significantly for the understanding and success of their students. I work to emulate that approach in my own teaching, be it helping friends with homework or running test review sessions in my residence hall. I try to model teaching as an open dialogue rather than a lectur... [more]

I'm currently an instructor at Virginia Tech and have spent the last three years here teaching Calculus I-III as well as Differential Equations. As to my background: In 2009, I received a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Buffalo State College and was certified to teach 7-12th grade Mathematics from 2010-2015. I went on to pursue my Master's degree in Mathematics, which I received in 2014. As a student, I earned A's in both my undergraduate and graduate level Differential Equations course... [more]

Nearly 100 hours of WyzAnt tutoring has been provided to Salem & Blacksburg High School students on "trig" principles. RU MATH 138 has been another popular class. Our trigonometry sessions will impart a "down-to-earth", visual sense of how triangles work. Trig functions are used to "see" vectors and simple harmonic motion. Trigonometry is all about "triangles simplified." Would you like to be able to "see" the three sides and three angles of any triangle without using a calculator or table of values? This can be done mentally under a minute. Given two sides and an angle, or two angles and [more]

My teaching style has developed into anyone can learn math. The catch to this is finding a way to reach all the different learning styles and thought processes of the students. I have had to adapt to the group of students in each class to help them to get the most of the course. I have tried in my variety of course from developmental math to statistics and calculus to reach different learning styles. I use different colors of markers to illustrate different steps in solving problems to help ... [more]

I have 26 years of classroom experience teaching all levels of high school math ranging from Algebra I to introductory Calculus. My love for math also compelled me to expand my education to complete a BS in Finance, a MBA, and a M.Ed in Educational Technology. Currently, I am the math remediation coordinator for two public high schools. As an author of a business math text book, and as a college entrance exam test writer, I am uniquely positioned to offer thorough course preparation for finan... [more]
