I started tutoring in high school as a peer tutor, and have been tutoring since (~10 years). My favorite subject to tutor in is math, specifically math ranging from Algebra through Calculus. Along the way, I've also picked up some experience in tutoring for Spanish and Physics. I love the feeling of finding new ways to explain concepts that don't make sense to students the first time. I've had a very successful track record of academic improvement with my students. I also like to instill note... [more]

I have taught and tutored high school and middle school math since 1976 and taught math at Granite Oaks Middle School up until retiring in June 2016. There are four components to my tutoring: 1. Concepts and Skills: help students understand the concepts behind what they are learning and give them practice on the skills they need to become mathematically fluent. 2. Accuracy, Organization, and Efficiency: help students organize their work and become accurate and efficient problem solvers. ... [more]

I became a math major because I couldn't imagine school without doing mathematics. I've worked with students who feel exactly the opposite: they can't imagine enjoying school when "doing" mathematics is part of the equation. In my eight years of teaching (Pre-algebra through Precalculus) and 16 years of tutoring (Pre-algebra through Calculus as well as Integrated Math 1-3 as part of the Common Core Curriculum), I've discovered that many students who just didn't "get math," achieved understan... Trigonometry... literally the study of Triangles. But it's so much more. We quickly use the relationships found within triangles to define new functions and we have a discrete branch of Mathematics. Trigonometric principles and features abound in and are vital to the study of Calculus. It is a major part of Pre-Calculus courses and it is also still offered as a stand-alone course in High Schools. A fun subject for many students as it combines Algebra with periodic functions and novel problem-solving techniques. [more]

This is a fascinating introduction to the math of circles and triangles, each of which surrounds us and runs our lives in ways that we might be unaware. For over 20 years, I have guided individuals and classes on the many ways that trigonometry is used. It is certainly one of my favorite subjects to help, students master. "Why study mathematics?" and "How will I ever understand this stuff?" are two of the most real and common questions I am asked when students, along with their parents, ask me to help. I use methods and techniques that I've perfected over the years to show the applicability and [more]

The application of trigonometry is so widespread that it is practically impossible to learn physics or any engineering subject without sound knowledge of trigonometry. Solving trigonometry problems is so much fun I do it for relaxation. I have tutored this subject to many. Most of my students have improved grades and fallen in love with this subject. The review of one of my students: "Sushanta has changed my life. Math used to be the scariest thing on earth. Now after ten sessions with him I am addicted to math. I need to solve a few trigo problems to relax my strained nerves." -Susan W. fr [more]

I love mathematics and I love teaching. I have 5+ years experience in teaching mathematics. If someone wants to understand calculus must know trigonometry perfectly. Throughout all the years I have studied, what really intrigued me were the basic concepts with which whole sciences were constructed. Having a deep and clear understanding and grasp of those concepts was the reason I have always been considered an absolute success in both teaching, in schools or at universities, and studying, during Bachelors and Masters or Doctorates programs. Having a Ph.D in applied mathematics with a concen [more]

Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that is notorious for confusing students. Fortunately, the principles of Trigonometry are not as challenging as they may seem. A solid foundation in the principles of Trigonometry leads to a thorough understanding of the subject, as well as improved confidence when tackling math problems at any level. I am a mechanical engineering student about to graduate with a math minor. I love to teach and believe that a good tutoring relationship improves the mental well-being of everyone involved. I have completed all of the advanced math, science, and engineeri [more]

I taught 11 different subject areas which included: Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Statistic, Trigonometry, Life Science, Physical Science, Earth & Space Science, World History, U.S. History, Civics & Government and Economics. In that time I was able to help nearly 100 students obtain their high school diplomas and pass t... [more]

I'm an engineer working at Intel Folsom since 2006. I have completed Masters in Engineering and currently pursuing PhD in engineering as well. I like maths the most as compared to other subjects because believe it or not Math is the easiest subject if you know the tricks to it. Guess what??!! I know the tricks. Not only I've got the tricks but I also posses a very high teaching skills as I'm from a family of 5 where all my siblings are teachers. Besides this I'm also teaching native language... [more]
