Education has always been a very important aspect in every adult's life. However, there are always times where many of us feel that we can't communicate with a teacher or just have a difficult time with the information being presented. I believe that my tutoring methods specifically help those who simply want to understand the material in a way that can be explained to the general public. Throughout college I helped countless classmates and students get a thorough grasp on the material pre... [more]

I have a love of learning and a passion for teaching! I hold a B.S. in biology and have completed extensive coursework in chemistry and physics as well. I scored in the top 5% in the math section of the SAT and the GRE, and the top 10% in the verbal section of those tests. Of course, intelligence alone does not a good teacher make. I am a firm believer that any subject can be accessible and interesting if it is properly explained. I have found that the teachers who best facilitate learning... [more]

I am going into my fourth year at McGill University where I am majoring in Electrical Engineering. Throughout my time in high school and college, I have tutored my classmates through their math classes. I have also tutored some of my friends' younger siblings to help prepare them for their final exams. Math concepts make sense to me and as a result, I can always explain the problems to students in a simple way that makes sense to them. I love seeing a concept click with another person since ... I am an undergraduate student at the University of Connecticut and am majoring in mechanical engineering. I got a 1900 on my SAT's, and took AP chemistry, AP physics and calculus in high school, aced them (thanks to tutoring), and am taking them again in college. When I first started preparing for the SAT's and taking these classes I was struggling, so much in fact that my parents demanded I get a tutor. I was embarrassed at first because none of my friends needed tutors, but I soon came to r... [more]

I use trigonometry all the time because it's fundamental for understanding shapes and because it ties in to all areas of math. I have taught it as part of various classes such as algebra, calculus, and geometry. I am available to tutor any area of mathematics: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, linear algebra, differential equations, etc. I can also help with more advanced college-level topics. My experience with advanced mathematics gives me insight into how different mathematical concepts are connected, which means that I can present these ideas in several dif [more]

I started tutoring math and science when I was a freshman in high school. I loved to teach and help my fellow classmates understand difficult concepts. In senior year of high school, I taught my AP Physics class for two weeks with some guidance from the AP Chemistry teach after our teacher fell ill. My classmates felt that I was able to keep us on schedule compared to just having a substitute assign us problems until a new teacher could be hired. After high school, I attended Carnegie Me... I have over 25 years experience as a math teacher and tutor. Simply put, I love working with students, both in a classroom setting and one-on-one as a tutor. I enjoy explaining things and the challenge of trying to make complicated topics simpler or at least understandable. For me, it's very satisfying to see a student finally get something they've been struggling with for a while, to experience that moment when something clicks and becomes clear. Although I certainly like working with st... [more]

I took trigonometry when I was a junior at high school. It was part of Precalculus course. I got A+ in that class and Math Achievement Award at the end of the year. Also I was a teaching assistant for that class when I was a senior at high school. In SAT Subject test Math II, trigonometry is included. I got 780 in that subject test which proves that I understood the material. Hi, I'm Miriam. I am double majoring in chemical engineering and mathematics (with concentrations in pure and computing) with a minor in classical piano at University of Massachusetts Amherst, Commonwealth Honors College.
