If you were stranded on a deserted island, could you reinvent Algebra? Calculus? Trigonometry? I could! Not that that would be the most practical thing to do, but once you understand the basic concepts, you will be able to do the same. I am a strong believer in understanding concepts and knowing fundamentals, NOT in doing math by rote. I will certainly help you get your homework done and get better grades, but I will also make sure that you understand it! I teach students techniques... [more]

Hi my name is Craig and I love math. I graduated with honors from the University of California Santa Barbara, where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Sciences. Education is important to me as I feel it is the foundation for a successful life. I like to volunteer for my community, so teaching greatly appeals to me because it is rewarding and satisfying to see students progress through a difficult class or problem and be happy with their results. I love critical think... [more]

In addition to teaching in private schools, I have worked as a math tutor for over forty years, with students ranging from third grade to adult. I have also run the tutoring program for a private school, been a math consultant for a public alternative school, and worked at an educational clinic for children with learning disabilities. I have also volunteered at my daughter's elementary school, and coached their teams for the local Math Super Bowl for the past four years. In high school, I par... [more]

Like Geometry, Trigonometry is one of the first places that you encounter proofs. SINes, COSines, TANgents, CoSeCants, SECants, COTangents, and this weird idea of a unit circle are examined for an entire course. I have been tutoring this awesome subject for 15 years. When I first encountered it in high school, was when I knew I would want to be a mathematician. I love demystifying this subject more than any other. A warning to the student. This class requires a lot of memorization, more than almost any other math class. That is actually where many students get stuck. I hope that you c [more]

Trigonometry is a sub-division of algebra. It is the study of angles, particularly triangles, and ratios. It encompasses concepts within general algebra, geometry, precalculus, and analysis. Understanding trigonometry requires a wealth of mathematical knowledge from numerous sources and any teacher or tutor should possess that mathematical savvy. I have tutored students in algebra, geometry, calculus, and multi-variable calculus for over 5 years. This a great asset for a versatile subject like trigonometry. My experience is extensive for all age levels. I am taught precalculus at Cal Luther [more]

Currently I am a teacher of Chemistry and Physics at a CA High School. Previously I have been an educational professional for 40 years, starting as a teacher of Math and Physics in High school to AP/1st year undergraduate level and I hold teaching credentials in both California and the UK. Later I taught Chemistry (the subject of my degree) to the same standard. I have many former students who have studied at the top UK Universities; Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Durham, Imperial London and so ... [more]

Let us make study plans together! I am an organized teacher who is very friendly and patient. I have more than five years teaching experience. My students are from elementary students to adults. Math: Good at finding multiple solutions to a certain Math question. Our goal is not merely to solve questions but to classify the questions into different categories so as to figure out the approaches to each group. Kill the math anxiety by simplifying the tricks. Chinese: Learning a languag... [more]

Hi! I've been a tutor since high school, though my first paying tutoring gig turned up after I'd graduated and moved away for college. I've worked at college tutoring centers, private academies, and independently. My experience at tutoring centers was as a drop-in tutor -- students could arrive at the tutoring center without having made an appointment to receive a quick lesson or two. At the private academy, I was an SAT instructor for small classrooms, with no more than eight students per s... [more]
