I have extensive experience teaching trigonometry as part of the Algebra 2 course and as its own course. In this setting, I have worked with students who find trigonometry a challenge. These students succeed in part due to my patient approach and excellent explanations. I have also authored a trigonometry chapter in a UK text book, so I understand the material in a way that will challenge even the most advanced student. I am a math teacher with more than 10 years of teaching experience. I am currently teaching at a high school, but have extensive experience teaching both middle school and high [more]

As a full-time tutor, I see a lot of math students, and trigonometry is one of my favorites to help with. It still amazes me how useful some simple length ratios can be, and I enjoy sharing that knowledge with students. I also bring my programming background to help. So many are surprised at how much trigonometry there is in a good video game; all of the angles for shooting, the physics for platforming, and even the speed the actors are moving at all come from trigonometry. Even the graphs of the functions are useful for making the music and sound effects! When students see the applications, i [more]

Hey! My name is Rochelle and I am a recent biomechanical engineering major from Hope College. Math is my strong subject and I can tutor in just about any type of math you may need help with. I will work to teach critical thinking skills during the lesson because that is the best skill to have when it comes to learning math. I was an engineering lab teaching assistant back in college where I helped students with math, computers, and critical thinking. I will be a great tutor. I am dedicated ... [more]

My name is Na L. and I'm a PhD student of mechanical engineering at Oakland University. Because of my background in engineering, I have strong skills in mathematics, physics and chemistry. I am originally from Beijing, China. Mandarin is my primary language and so I am capable of teaching Chinese as well. I have been tutoring for the last 12 years throughout middle school, high school, and college. I worked as a director of a program coordinating mentor and mentee pairing for Harvard Students and high school students in Boston. I ran this group for two years and we had over 25 different pairings in the program. I also mentored my mentee about school, life, and college applications. In addition, I was an English as a Second Language Consultant on campus, and I worked with graduate students on i... [more]

Welcome! I currently work as a CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) Engineer at General Motors. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors in Mechanical Engineering from the Schreyer Honors College at The Pennsylvania State University. I have a diverse cultural background, having grown up in both the U.S. and in India, for nearly equal portions of my life. When I was younger I never enjoyed studying, not many of us do at that age, and because of that lack of interest, I wasn't an especially good ... [more]

It always bothered me when students got "turned off" to math at an early age, due to a bad teacher, frustration, or lack of interest. Math is a basic skill that is needed to manage life. I try to ease anxiety and give confidence to students, so they believe that they CAN do math! When I first meet with a student, I try to assess strong and weak understanding of concepts. I present material as necessary if a student is totally lost, then we do some drill work, repeatedly solving certain ty... [more]

I have taught at Davenport University for over 10 years now. I have taught subjects at the Bachelors and Masters level. I have taught Finance, Marketing, Leadership, Accounting, Economics, Physics and Mathematics. I love to teach and do it with passion. I won "Instructor of the Year" award at Davenport in 2000-2001... Over the past 6 years I have been a Teaching Assistant at Wayne State over the summer for a program called Math Corps, helping children of different ages in not only Math but also obtaining a variety of life skills. This program showed me that when it comes to assisting a student in Math you have to make sure not only do they understand the material, but you must also be sure that they are interested. I say this because without interest who wants to learn anything? With that being said I plan... [more]

I am a 2013 graduate from the University of Michigan with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I am currently a packaging engineer at Chrysler for prototype vehicles, working until 4pm on weekdays. Prior to Chrysler, I spent two years working for Yazaki, an automotive supplier. My job at Chrysler and Yazaki requires math on a daily basis. My thorough understanding of math (trigonometry, calculus, physics, etc.) paired with my ability to communicate concepts and alternate methods of approach make... [more]
