As a Calculus teacher, I have utilized trigonometry regularly and I can explain appropriately both what trigonometry actually is and why we care (its applications). Trigonometry is not a particularly long course; many high schools, including my own, did not offer it as a separate course, but rather a subdivision of geometry that took roughly 1 1/2 quarters of the school year to complete. However, trigonometry certainly has a learning curve to it; clarity is key, with [more]

Trigonometry is typically taught as a component of other subjects. I have taught trigonometry as a component of Precalculus in a non-public school on a one to one student to teacher context as well as in a typically populated public classroom. APPROACH My goal is student understanding, building on a student's existing understanding level and familiar contexts, and looking for ways to help remembrance of procedures/concepts. I will look to determine and address the root or cause of a student's difficulties. I will seek to coordinate my instruction with what the student is learning in the cla [more]

Physics is all around us, embedded in everything we do. Learning physics is learning about our world and how it works. My approach is conceptual in nature. I use practical, real world examples to bring light to and understanding of physics concepts. While physics does have math in it (since the universe uses math to explain itself to us), math is only a tool to be used in forming our understanding. I am certified to teach high school physics by the State of Connecticut and have taught physics... [more]
