I LOVE science and math. I studied chemistry at Oberlin College, and then went on to earn both a Master's degree and PhD in physical chemistry (with an emphasis on quantum mechanics) from Yale University. After that, I taught chemistry at Southwestern University for two years. I recently moved to Pittsburgh, and am looking for a way to continue doing the work I love with students in a part-time capacity. During my graduate studies, I volunteered to mentor junior and high school students in different programs such as Gear Up and the Science Olympiads. I think it is priceless to see the face of a student when he or she figures out a hard problem or when he or she gets back a good grade ... [more]

Trigonometry is the one subject that most students struggle with, but is actually much easier than almost anyone expects. It's just Algebra meets Geometry, and working with it last year with two of my students reminded me of just how fun it can be. I've always had a fondness for math, dating back to 3rd Grade when I would challenge my teacher to math games. I wanted to teach as a profession but after two years of education training, I dropped Education from my degree and studied Applied Mathematics instead. I yearn to learn and teach math as much as I possibly can. I have a Bachelor's of [more]
