I have taught Computer Programming I which focuses on Visual Basic at the North Carolina Virtual Public School for the last 6 years. Visual Basic, though it's changed over the years, was a course I took to earn my BSBA in Information Systems at Appalachian State University. I spent 20 years as a software engineer. For the last 10 years, the applications I coded and maintained used MS Access as a frontend and Oracle databases as a backend. Coding for the applications was done in VB6. We began using VB .Net for new applications during the last 4 or 5 years. We began migrating Access/VB6 applications to VB .Net. For my current role at work, I use visual basic to automate processes and also calculate values. The automation used includes shell systems, compounded if statements and loops.
