Language Teacher

Languages have always been fascinating subjects for me and my fascination led me to choose two languages as my college majors - English Literature and Arabic grammar. I also studied French for six years at Middle and High School and also attended Ndebele classes (an African language) after completing college. My love and passion for languages compels me to engage my students to the best of my ability so that they too may discover the beauty of language, the power of language and how central... [more]

After travelling abroad, I want to help others on their journeys.

Every class and every new lesson, the students would learn new English vocabulary words. One of the more enjoyable methods of teaching vocabulary would involve seeing which words students liked as they learned them (some students liked "football" while others liked words such as "kitten" or "uncle") and having them either write a few sentences or speak to the class about what this word means for them. Making lessons fun and personal like this were a big help to the students in reinforcing vocabulary retention. [more]

Freelance Arts Journalist and Writing Teacher

Dear Students and Parents, When I was in school, I had favorite teachers. They weren't merely the ones who were funny and nice; they were the ones who engaged me, enthralled me and taught me lessons and skills that I use and benefit from today. English -- or, really, anything involving reading, writing and communicating -- was and continues to be my true love. Having taught creative writing for years, as well as worked successfully with students on their application essays for college a... [more]
