Hello, and thank you for taking the time to check into working with me. I have done a lot of different work academically and professionally. Academically I completed a B.A. in Political Science/International Relations and further concentrated in Russian/Eastern European Politics (not the Russian Language) as well as a M.B.A. in Health Care Management, and a M.S. in applied health informatics. I feel comfortable tutoring in a lot of different subjects, tech related, science related, business r... [more]
I have had to master study skills in order to find success in my academic career. I have also used these skills professionally. I believe that I am able to give students the tools to evaluate their own study skills and to assist them in their establishment of a study plan for themselves.
When I was a student I was a special needs student for some time in elementary school, and even in high school. I think my experience uniquely qualifies me to work with special needs kids because I was one. Additionally, I have done a lot of different work with special needs kids.
Most of my tutoring experience has been in the ESL area. I was a tutor at Upward Bound for about a year working with ESL students, and the same at Community Education. I believe that these experiences have uniquely qualified me to work with people that are struggling with ESL issues. I have managed to take subjects like Chemistry and brought them into the ESL classroom in a way that makes sense.
I hold a Masters degree in Business Administration and I received a 3.6/4.0 grade point. I think this qualifies me to give a well rounded tutoring experience in business.
I work for the California Department of Public Health, and I am pursuing a doctorate in health science. I have been working on projects involving epidemiology for infectious diseases.
