Thank you for taking your precious time to read my profile. May God work through this to help others in the area of education. I taught five years at a private school in the area of Language Arts. For some of you that are confused about Language Arts, it involves the area of English, spelling, writing, grammar, and the arts, of course. I was an English teacher for many years in the private school. Grammar was top order for every one of the classes in my school. I proficiently taught grammar and writing as my most diligent attempt to improve writing skills in the schools. I was given orders by the principal to teach writing and that meant lots of grammar! Tutoring in writing has been a love and a hands on in the past for most tutors that I taught.

I am an adult tutor, former English teacher I went back to finish college after my family was grown. I taught lots of writing and grammar. I taught English many years, and did intense work with 7-8 graders in writing essays. Everything from persuasive to opinion essays, and the students worked through writing skills. I was preparing them for high school and ultimately college.

I taught five years in Language Arts, and reading was the core of my teaching. English is so important. Phonics is the basis and would be able to teach it along with all the other grammar skills. Phonics displays the sounds and comprehension for the beginning of reading.

Study Skills

I am a former classroom teacher. Study skills are required for each student and taught in the area of English. Many of the skills for studying are developed early on in Junior High. I taught junior high for five years. A key quality for developing study skills is to discipline yourself to an area that is appropriate, suitable lighting, and minimum noise for this can be a distraction. My experience as a classroom teacher has helped me to spot the need for good study skills.

Elementary (K-6th)

I taught middle school for many years. I was a Language Arts, and 6th grade was a primary level of teaching all the writing, reading, and study skills. I have been tutoring more elementary than middle school students in the past. I feel that my teaching experience really enhances all I need for tutoring elementary students.
