Subjects that I have taught or tutored include: Math, physics, chemistry, astronomy, photography, MS Office, AutoCAD, graphics, and electrical and computer engineering. I am a Delaware Certified Teacher in Computer science, physics, and mathematics. I am highly qualified and taught eleven years in a math-science public charter high school. I have a Ph.D. in engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and spent many years in industry solving difficult, one-of-a-kind problems before becoming... [more]
I am a Delaware certified, highly qualified, math teacher with more than twenty years of experience teaching (and tutoring) a wide variety of math subjects (including algebra 1).

Calculus is a branch of math that involves two new operators: the derivative, and its inverse, the integral. The derivative is analogous to the slope of a line (from algebra) and the integral is the area under a curve. I have been tutoring calculus at the high school and college levels for over fifteen years.
I have using Microsoft Excel since it first came out for Apple's Macintosh computers. I have formally taught Excel (on Windows) since the mid 90's to both high school and college students. I continue to use Excel in my own work to organize and analyze data.
Geometry is a branch of math concerned with points, lines, angles, shapes, and space (on a plane). It also develops skills such as logic, reasing, and proofs. Many students have a hard time with geometry because it is more visual than their previous math studies. I have been tutoring high school geometry for over twenty years.
I have using Microsoft Word since it first came out for Apple's Macintosh computer. I have formally taught Word (on Windows) since the mid 90's to both high school and college students.
I am a Delaware certified physics teacher with more than twenty years experience teaching (and tutoring) high school and college students.
I have considerable experience helping middle and high school students understand and learn pre-algebra as well as algebra.
I have successfully helped hundreds of students prepare for the math portions of the SAT, as well as the ACT, and Praxis exams. Some of these students have achieved perfect (or near-perfect) scores! I am currently teaching an SAT math preparation course, and have taught several SAT math preparation courses in the past.
I am certified in Delaware to teach computer science. I have taught computer application courses for over ten years at the Charter School of Wilmington. I have worked with computers in industry for over twenty years, and led numerous software development projects.
I have taken numerous college courses dealing with discrete mathematics. My Ph.D. thesis involves solving a set of simultaneous partial difference equations with boundary values. I used discrete math concepts to solve several projects I worked on in industry. In fact I earned a US patent for one of those solutions.
I have taken and very easily passed the Praxis exam. I have also prepared several students to take this exam. I view the Praxis as similar to (but perhaps easier than) both the SAT and ACT tests.
I have a PhD from Carnegie-Mellon University in electrical engineering. I have also tutored and taught several college courses for electrical engineering including a review course for the EIT portion of the Professional Engineering license.
Over the past twenty years, I have successfully helped hundreds of students prepare for the math portion of the ACT, SAT, and PRAXIS exams. Some of these student have achieved perfect (or near perfect) scores!
