Greetings! I have a bachelor?s degree in Chemistry from The College of Wooster, a Masters in Chemistry, and a PhD in Environmental Science, both from George Mason University. My professional endeavors have included being a Chemist at the American Dental Association Paffenbarger Research Center, a pre-doctoral fellow at the Carnegie Institution of Washington, a Scientific Liaison at the US Geological Survey, and a consultant for the Energy and Environment team for LMI. In 2007 I became a stay ... [more]
I have a master's in chemistry and my thesis was in biochemistry.
I love chemistry and love teaching it. I have taught at the college level and have tutored numerous students throughout the years. During my lessons I find out where the student is having a hard time understanding and then present the material in layman's terms. I call this approach "jelly-bean chemistry." Students respond well to it. My sessions are professional, respectful and thorough. I hope that I can help you or someone in your family or circle of friends.
I have a doctorate in environmental science and use math on a daily basis. My course work included several classes in math and physics. I have over a decade of experience tutoring physics (including geometry) and math to high school and college students.
I tutor other subjects that involve pre-algebra and algebra concepts like pH, thermodynamics, gas laws.
Spanish is my first language and I love teaching it. I have found very effective ways to teach my own kids Spanish and will use those same techniques and more to help you or your loved ones learn the language.
I have tutored math and achieve students as well as helped with SAT and GRE and GMAT prep.
I have tutored GMAT, SAT math, and chemistry for the last decade.
I have tutored 6th, 7th and 8th grade math to precalculus as well as many chemistry and physics students.
I have taught study skills to many students over the years as I tutored them in particular subjects. In high school and college I was a student athlete and through that I learned the need to organize my time so that I could be efficient. Over the years I have also taken note of what helped others and I thrive in school: organization skills, note taking skills, subject reviewing skills, reading to learn. In my sessions I teach these skills to the student and/or help them sharpen those study skills already in place. Study skills must be tailored to each student because each person had a different way of learning and assimilating information. In my sessions we work to discover how the student learns and help him/her sharpen those skills to make them efficient and effective.
I have a MS in Chemistry and a PhD in Environmental Science. The course load required me to take a number of classes in organic chemistry, biochemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, geochemistry. In addition I have tutored many students in organic chemistry in the past and am I confident that I can be of help to those seeking to understand and master the basic concepts of organic chemistry.
