American History


I am multi-certified in ESL, English & Reading, & Special Ed. I have a Master's in Reading Education with various training in dyslexia. I am a Certified Wilson Reading Program Instructor. In the near future I will be working toward my certification and licensure as a Dyslexia Therapist. I have my Reading Specialist certification.


I am a trained consultant with the National Writing Project and have been teaching for 12 years. I am certified in English 8-12, & 4-8, special ed, and a reading specialist.


I am a certified K-12 teacher in English and several areas. I am a teacher consultant with the National Writing Project and a doctoral student specializing in literacy and writing. I have taught integrated reading and writing courses at the college level.

SAT Reading

Elementary (K-6th)

My teaching and tutoring experience includes working with students K-12. I have multiple certifications that include special ed EC-12, ESL EC-12, Generalist 4-8, and Reading Specialist EC-12, all of which enable me to work with students at elementary, middle school, and high school.


I am a Wilson certified instructor where I have been extensively trained in phonics instruction using the Orton Gillingham method and I have a master's degree in reading, where I am also a certified reading specialist.

Study Skills

I have over 11 years experience teaching students and am currently a doctoral student specializing in developmental education with an emphasis on literacy and learning support. In the subjects that I have taught, I have incorporated study skills management as part of the curriculum and have experience working with students in bridge programs where study skills is a major component. I work with all students with and without learning disabilities.

Special Needs

I am a certified special education teacher for grades EC-12 of which I have worked extensively with for eight of the 12 years that I have been teaching. I have been working with special needs students with varying disabilities that include both learning and physical. My specialty is with students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia and other reading difficulties.


I am a certified teacher in the subject of ESL for grades EC-12. I have over ten years experience with the last seven in a predominantly ESL populated school campus. I have had three years of extensive researched-based training in sheltered instruction for ESL and teaching strategies to effectively work with ESL students as well as adults through established institutes such as WEST ED. I have worked with students ranging from beginner level through advanced ESL. I am also certified to work with students who have special needs and have additional experience with Limited English proficient students and dyslexic.

College Counseling

I am a former AVID teacher and campus coordinator which stands for Advancement via Individual Determination. The program is designed to provide access and prepare students for college. I taught them college readiness skills, guided them through the college application and scholarship process, set up and escorted students on college campus tours. I served in this capacity for two years and I have also given college presentation workshops to students and parents in my church community about the process and financial aid as well as mentored them through the process through my church scholarship ministry. My course work in my doctoral studies include coursework topics and research about student transition from high school to college, access, and student development. As an adjunct professor at my community college I am also responsible for providing advisement to students in their course and major selections and helping them see a variety of career options that they will have with that major choice. I also currently volunteer at a local high school college and career center helping students locate resources about colleges and completing their college applications.


I have over 11 teaching experience in teaching students with special needs. I am special ed certified, which includes learning disabilities such as ADD/ADHD.


I am dyslexia teacher certified in the Wilson Reading Program which is an Orton-Gillingham based program for working with dyslexics. I have worked with these and other learning disabled students in public school for over 10 years. I have a master's degree in reading education and recently completed requirements for certification as a reading specialist for the state of Texas.


I am a certified K-12 teacher and have taught TAKS preparation workshops, prepared students through out the school year for all grade levels 3-12 that have to take these Texas Standardized tests. I have more than 12 years experience and have also been a proctor for this exam through out my teaching career.
