Experienced Tutor with CBEST certification, BS Engineer'g-MBA-DBA '16

I tutor Math and Science, but will also tutor business courses as well. The most important aspect of tutoring is to teach the student how to learn on their own. I like to focus on the rules and of math and tried and proven methods of problem solving and test taking. English and math are very much intertwined subjects, therefore I encourage students to think clearly and write well. I have an engineering degree from University of Pennsylvania, MBA from Santa Clara University, and now working... [more]

Macroeconomics

Microeconomics is the study of individual economic behavior as well as theory of the firm, I.e., maximization of firm efficiency, determination of break even and shutdown points. It also addresses the issues of competiveness with respect to monopolistic , oligopolistic, competitive and pure competitive behavior. Supply and demand and concepts of elasticity lend themselves well to mathematical expressions. Macroeconomics is an aggregate view of an economy, but supply and demand are very much a part of the study, only in the aggregate. Distinctions between GDP and GNP will be much more clear.

Study Skills

Study skills are habits one develops to find and learn subject matter and additional related information. Methods of study should be aligned to a student's daily routine and made a part of the fabric of how the student approaches every subject. Use of every available resource will be incorporated into information search and how to use the results without plagiarizing. The emphasis is on making every one that I have the opportunity to transfer my knowledge to eventually will no longer need my assistance.

Business

I am a commercialization and technology development consultant specializing in entrepreneurship and intellectual property. For the anyone who is interested in basic or advanced business concepts, I can help you.

Career Development

I have mentored several students and alums to pursue career choices that have made them much happier and more in line with their future aspirations. I am currently coaching a Princeton Grad regarding creating a blog that will enable him to start his and grow his small business. I am also currently mentoring a fellow young alum to pursue a senior management position at a major company. I started mentoring him over ten years ago and helped him to become a registered patent agent, which has led to a more fulfilling career where he can use his engineering training but be a part of the business side as well. He had more than doubled his earnings in his first two years and may triple his earning with his potential new position. Prior to mentoring him I mentored a another alum, who also fulfilled her aspirations and became a registered patent agent. She is now a Vice president at a biomedical company. On the other hand I have helped several to realize their career goals through finance, starting their own businesses, and navigating the political waters within their own companies. Whatever stage one is in their career, I can help thorough my extensive network of contacts and also my own personal experience in a diversity of industries. All I ask from those I help is that they are flexible.

College Counseling

I am an Ivy grad with close ties to Penn especially because I am on the Alumni Interviewing committee. I am also the past president of the Silicon Valley Penn Alumni Association. As such I am instructed on the requirements not only of Penn but the other colleges as well. I am privy to much information regarding the entire admissions process. I also Have an MBA from Santa Clara and I am currently working on my doctoral dissertation. I enjoy helping students realize their collegiate dreams, if possible. I have gone through the process recently with my own daughter who was accepted at her first choice, NYU, for Film school. She is a rising Junior there.

CBEST

I am CBEST certified, having passed on the first try. The CBEST is very tricky because there are subtle yet distinct differences in the required response. The writing section is based upon paragraph structure and how to transition from one sentence to another. It is matter of practice, writing a paragraph or two to address a subject that is given to you. I have practiced with my son to help him pass the test as well.

Marketing

I graduated from Univ. of Pennsylvania with an engineering degree with a minor in Marketing from Wharton. I have an MBA from Santa Clara in Marketing and Quantitative Analysis. Additionally I am currently working on my doctorate in business focusing on Entrepreneurship, with a 3.91 in completed coursework. I am currently writing my research proposal which addresses identification and prediction of tipping points of disruptive innovations. I am also a consultant in monetization of intellectual proprties which addresses marketability of innovations, including business practices.

Civil Engineering

I have a BS in civil engineering, with emphasis in structural analysis. I assist students with understanding analysis of materials, composite structural analysis, static and non static loads, for beams and columns, indeterminate structures.
