Economics, Finance, MBA, CFA

I have extensive tutoring experience in Economics and Finance materials, as well as significant experience teaching Math and CFA materials. Although I tend to concentrate in those subjects, my students often request help in other subjects they are taking, and I'm usually happy to help if I have the time. Some of the more common subjects I help with during these extra sessions are Excel, Access, Statistics, Programming, and general business courses. I've passed all three CFA exams and would be... Microsoft Excel

I have extensive familiarity with Excel, both in academic and industry settings, and over a decade of power user experience. I've even worked with a some of the individuals involved in the development process for the software itself (and was even able to show them a thing or two in the process). My familiarity with Excel includes basic formula construction, lookups, pivot tables, array formulas, macro recording, macro/VBA coding, custom functions, charting/graphing, statistical analysis (histograms, correlations, regression, etc.), solver/goal seek, Monte Carlo simulations, data downloading, automated data retrieval and analysis, and many other functions/uses (just ask if you have something specific you need help with). Basically, if you want it done in Excel, I can probably help you do it.

Statistics

I primarily teach Finance, Econ, and other business/MBA/CFA courses. That said, help with Stats is a pretty regular request I get from my regular students. Many of the courses I tutor involve stats to various degrees as well (the CFA material cover intro stats reasonably in depth, Econometrics is all stats, and simulations and various Excel programs regularly require stats). Though I tend to prefer my Norma specialties, I'm happy to discuss tutoring for stats classes for lower level and intro classes. If you're deep into a stats degree, however, you may be better off finding another tutor. I'm good at the lower level material, and a fair amount of the applied stuff, I've simply not had the need to learn many of the more in depth topics.

Finance

I've been tutoring Finance courses for the past 15 years, with the last 7 in the Boston area. I've taught everything from MBA courses at MIT, to Financial Derivatives at Harvard, and intro finance courses at all of the major Boston area schools (and most of the minor ones). My education background is in Econ and Math, followed up with the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program, the gold standard of finance designations. I've passed all three CFA exams, and can help you prep for taking the exams, should you want to pursue the designation. Professionally, I consult, work with a number of startups, and tutor. I've done everything from financial modeling for failed financial products following the 2008 market collapse, expert witness prep related to litigation against now-defunct investment banks, investment analytics for life insurance companies, capital raising, and simply helping small businesses get a handle on their financial position.

Macroeconomics

I have an extensive background tutoring Economics. I worked for the Athletic Department of a Big Ten school while I attended University, tutoring for Econ and Finance courses almost exclusively for between 10-50 hours a week. Post graduation, I've been working as a financial analyst, though I continue to tutor on the side. I've also completed all three CFA Exams.

CFA

I've passed all three of the CFA exams. I regularly tutor students in finance and econ throughout the year at both the undergrad and graduate level, covering all exam material. I have also helped both colleagues and students with their exam prep on many occasions.

Visual Basic

I've done an extensive amount of programming in VBA in Excel, both for personal usage, as well as small business needs. The majority of the programs are designed for things such as automatic data downloading, daily analytics tasks, Monte Carlo simulations, and similar analytical needs. I've helped individuals learn everything from how to use the basic macro recording, setting up their own custom functions, and setting up their own analytics programs.
