In curriculum development, I was selected to help write technology and science standards for grades K-8. I routinely score assessment testing in reading, writing, mathematics, and science for grades 3-12. I have also developed summer magnet programs for grades 3-5.
Classroom teachers offer many study tips including outlining, note-taking, and the use of flash cards. These tools are important, but so is the ability to determine what content will be on quizzes and tests--what do they really need to know in each chapter or unit? Helping students develop long-term, effective study skills is a fundamental step in lifelong learning. The sooner students are shown ways to remember facts and truly understand concepts, the easier and less stressful their education becomes. Study skills can be learned and improved through a variety of ways, depending on the person's learning style and age. Experiencing learning success is a key motivating factor and I can help make the process of learning both more enjoyable and more productive.
The Test of Essential Academic Skills [TEAS] has 170 multiple choice questions covering English, Reading, Math, and Science. It is important to prepare effectively for the TEAS and to understand the strategies you need to use in answering the questions correctly. I have developed my own strategy guides, which I provide for each TEAS student. The TEAS does not allow you to use a calculator, so most students need a mathematics refresher before taking this test. The science questions cover topics that most students haven't studied for awhile, so this area also needs preparation. Since I have taught and tutored in these subject areas, I can help ensure your TEAS success.
