Hello, I am a certified math teacher for grades 7-12 (New York State as well as an experienced engineer having worked for GE consumer electronics and medical equipment manufacturers. My strength lies in my ability to describe math clearly and to connect concepts to the real world. Many of my hobbies, like sailing and skiing, have math. I play up the fun aspect of math where possible in my examples. My teaching background covers 10 years in a high school math lab and 3 more in a classro... [more]
I am permanently licensed in NYS as a math teacher for grades 7-12. I have taught algebra I for 3 years in a classroom and have 10 years experience in a mathematics lab.
With personal hobbies such as sailing and my engineering experience, I can easily connect topics within Alg II & Trig to make it more understandable. I have taught Algebra II & Trig for 2 years in a classroom and have 10 years experience in a mathematics lab.
I have taught geometry for 2 years in a classroom. The beauty of it and why I find it to be fun is that we are surrounded by it. The ancient Greeks were mesmerized by the physical world so much that they tried to explain and organize properties of objects; from this arose the branch of geometry. Its usefulness can help us build a wood deck on a house or appreciate the immensity of the pyramids of Giza. A fun exercise I treat my students to is building a kite to fly out of tissue paper and chop sticks. Finally, I am a sailor and sailboats are drenched in geometry beginning with a triangular sail.
I am permanently licensed in NYS as a math teacher for grades 7-12. I have taught for 3 years in a classroom. Math 8 is essentially pre-algebra and I have common core experience with this for 8th and 9th grade students. Thru my engineering background and hobbies like sailing, I relate topics in pre-algebra so it comes alive.
I am permanently licensed in NYS as a math teacher for grades 7-12. A requirement of any NY teacher is to take 2 semesters of a foreign language; I chose second year Spanish and earned A's despite having been many years out of high school (where I took it all four years and received A's and B's). Spanish languageand culture is a serious hobby of mine. I maintain regular contact with my college professor and high school teacher!

I am permanently licensed in NYS as a math teacher for grades 7-12. I have taught for 2 years in a classroom and have 10 years experience in a mathematics lab. I took 4 years of ASVAB and consistently scored in the 90th percentile and above for each category.
Logic is a branch of mathematics. It also plays a significant role in electronics. In light of the fact that I possess a 4 year degree in electrical engineering and a graduate degree in math ed, I have had considerable experience with this subject matter. Also, in my geometry classes an entire chapter was devoted to logic, which I taught.
Since I am NYS certified in Math 7-12, I am able to teach these Regents level classes and test prep for them as well.
