I am available to help your child with reading. From basic pre-k level to 5th grade. It is very valuable to have your child read daily. The only way to become a better reader is to read, read, read. I make learning fun, and very creative. It is important to find books that interest your child. Take turns reading and for the younger ages try and use different voices.
Does your child need to learn his/her math? I can help. I love math and its my favorite subject. I believe every child can succeed in math no matter how frustrated they may become with the math topic they are learning.

While phonics is a key element in learning to read, I first work with a student to determine if they need help with phonics, sight words or a combination. Most students learn to read using a combination of both phonics and sight words. Phonics is such an important part of language arts. It's the building blocks of reading. Getting students to look at the letters and sound out words and eventually read them is such a wonderful feeling for them to do it and for me to hear it.
I have assisted many students (from grades 3rd-8th grade) in developing effective study and organizational techniques and skills that can be applied in all subject areas. I look forward to working with you to improve your study skills and habits.
I am able to help tutor students in preparing for the COOP/HSPT exam. I have personal experience with working within the Roman Catholic dioceses. Many of my students applied and were accepted to Catholic High Schools and received scholarships based on their scores.
Social Studies is a unique subject in that it covers many of the social sciences: history, political science, civics, geography, economics and history. I take a story-based approach to history to make learning the subject more interesting for young learners. The review and study of social productivity, citizenship, culture, social environment causes and agencies as well as exploring the history and development within our current society and community will be taught. I do not have any particular certification, but I have a lot of experience teaching basic social studies to students over the years.
