I am a 2010 graduate of CSU, Sacramento with a Second Bachelors Degree in Music (Flute). My GPA is 3.85 on a 4.0 point scale, honors-level. In my Music Degree Program, in addition to Flute lessons and Large Performance Ensemble training and performances, I studied piano, ear training, general musicianship, Music Theory (beginning, intermediate, advanced), 20th Century Music Theory, Survey of Music Literature, History of Music (from early to present day), Counterpoint, and Form and Analysis. My success in this intense training provided an excellent background to help music students as a tutor. Additionally, I am passionate about sharing my love of music with others, and thus, I am motivated to help music students learn and grow.
I have always loved learning and excelled in school. Especially during college, I learned to focus and research, going after deep understanding and mastery of my lessons. My Masters Degree Program in English and Music Second Bachelors Degree Program both demanded intense investment from me, and I learned to meet those demands while also meeting my work, relationship, and health needs. I am eager to share tips to help others succeed in their own studies.
I have sung since childhood with friends and in camp, church, and school. I also trained in voice and performed in vocal ensembles at Humboldt State University and CSU, Sacramento.
As an English tutor and teacher, I have often worked one-on-one with individuals whose first language is not English. Although I do not speak other languages (other than a little Spanish), if a student can speak, read, and write some English, I can help him or her gain fluency and tackle coursework in English more effectively.
I passed the CBEST Exam 2/10/2001, earning a 79 in Reading, 67 in Math, and 63 in Writing, with a total score of 209, considered "highest results."
