Learning With a Twist!

Hi there! I'm Jada, a music teacher, soprano, writer and recent college graduate with a passion for learning! My two loves are English and Music. I specialize in English (language arts, writing, reading comprehension), music (voice, theory, clarinet, piano), elementary maths, foreign language (beginner to intermediate French), history, etc. I realize that everyone learns differently (myself, included), so I help students understand by using various approaches. I think it's important to wo... [more]

Algebra 1

Math isn't always easy--trust me. In fact, Algebra 1 is where you learn key rules and equations that are going to help you with advanced maths. One minute, y=x and the next, y=x+4-- what happens with the slope? I'll help you with that one! In fact, I would be more than happy to help you overcome your mathematical struggles.

Vocabulary

I was always told, "if you don't know what it means, don't say it!" Since then, I've made it my goal to learn every word in my vocabulary's meaning. And I hope to do the same for you! Too often, we are confused by the meanings of words that sound alike, but are spelled and mean two completely different things!

Grammar

Grammar is important to me--as I considered majoring in it for undergrad. I have always enjoyed grammar in terms of speaking correctly, as well as writing correctly. Punctuation and perfect English are important in today's society!

Reading

Reading and reading comprehension are my strongest subjects. I think that it is important to understand what we are reading and not just scan through passages. This concept, along with being able to read a test passage and look for key words are what I help students with. Combined, these skills allow students to understand what they've just read, answer the question correctly, and in a "standardized test" timely manner.

Writing

I'm an English major! Need help with a paper? Need a paper edited? I'm your person! As a skilled writer, I've always been the one people look for when turning in a paper, writing a speech, etc. I have always enjoyed grammar in terms of speaking correctly, as well as writing correctly. Punctuation and perfect English is important in today's society!

English

English is a strong subject for me--as I considered majoring in it for undergrad. I have always enjoyed writing papers, proofreading, grammar, spelling, and all aspects of the English language.

Proofreading

Need a paper edited? I'm your person! As a skilled writer, I've always been the one people look for when turning in a paper, writing a speech, etc.

Spelling

It is imperative that we know how to spell the words that we are saying. Sometimes people can get confused with homophones, and of course be confused by the commonly misspelled words...that's where I come in!!

Elementary Math

Math is important to me because numbers are everywhere! It is important that everyone understands the basic concepts, so that the more complex ones can seem a little bit easier. Simple tasks such as basic addition, fractions, time-telling, and counting change are essential to a child's development.

Voice (Music)

I have been musically trained since the age of 4. I am currently an undergraduate liberal arts music major with a concentration in voice. I have been trained in the fundamentals of music, sight singing, theory, harmony, etc.
