As a private tutor, I have tutored children as young as 6 years old in reading (phonics), writing, and math since 2013. I have extensive experience with children who have learning disabilities including ADD, ADHD, auditory/visual processing disorders, and dyslexia. By using creative, hands on kinesthetic learning techniques, in addition to Brain Integration Therapy techniques first used by Dianne Craft, I have been able to effectively help children of various elementary ages learn techniques and strategies to overcome learning barriers and successfully accomplish their academic goals.
I am certified for tutoring study skills based on my qualifications as a full time student who has balanced family, a career, and academic pursuits while maintaining a 3.85 GPA and Dean's list status at my college. In addition to my own personal experiences as a student which have developed my study skills, I have also learned much about effective studying techniques and learning in general from my Psychology courses.
I am requesting certification as a tutor in this subject because of my relevant career experience and academic education in the subject: (a) 3 years as a Military Police officer in US Army (b) Acquisition of 27 Credit Hours from Columbia College in the subject of Criminal Justice, resulting in the addition of the Minor of Criminal Justice to my final Bachelor's Degree.
