Good communication is a huge part of what a student learns in his or her educational career. That's why I selected communications as my major. I'm a writing coach, which means I assist students with their learning of different types of writing. Using a good English handbook is a skill that involves marking areas where the student is having difficulty and noting where errors are occurring. Writing for speaking is its own skill, and that's another coaching area in which I've helped students to succeed.
Five years of work as a tutor and lab assistant for ESL students has taught me to tailor programs to individual students' needs. Some have needed to get U.S. licenses or other qualifications to return to professions they had in their home countries. I welcome a variety of challenges.
Government & Politics
I passed the proofreading test with a 100 score and often work with students on submitting correct work. The student has the ideas and I work with them on the details. The student often learns much in the process that applies to their subject area and to the general study of English.
