American History

My daughter took the AP American History course. I have also tutored other students in this subject.



I have taught English in both Middle and High School.

European History


I have taught French at the High School and College level for many years. I have a BA degree in French from Sweet Briar College and participated in the Junior Year in France program. I have taken many advanced courses in French as well. I have organized student study abroad programs in France for travel and language enrichment. I enjoy speaking French and attend classes at the Sacramento Alliance francaise. J'adore tout ce qui est francais!


I am familiar with the Common Core Standards for reading programs in California. I currently tutor students who attend Elementary Schools in Folsom and Granite Bay. I feel that I am able to bring a lot of teaching experience in Language Arts and English to the younger learners in the area schools. I enjoy coaching them to improve their skills.


I have taken 24 units of college Spanish and have traveled extensively in Spain. I taught Middle School Spanish for 3 years. I have tutored students in Spanish level 1.


I have been assisting students in grades 4-7 in both public and private schools in the area. Many students find that writing and being able to express themselves both creatively, as well as using correct grammar, is truly a challenge. I have developed some principles and lessons which can be individualized, which I implement in their Common Core Curriculum. Common Core standards are innovative, however the initiative has not allowed for continuity in instruction. As a professional, I feel that students learn best while practicing reading, writing, and comprehension skills. Teaching is Learning, and I discover that many of my students benefit from my creative, meaningful, and fun learning sessions. A guided learning experience with Common Core Standards as the "bar", can be a fulfilling experience!!!!


I have taught middle school language arts and high school English. I have certification from New York State to teach English grades 6-12. I also have training in teaching English as a second language. While living in Columbus, Ohio I worked for Berlitz International teaching English to adults who worked for various companies.


I have taken Instruction from Berlitz International in teaching English as a 2nd language. I also have taught middle school and high school English. I have taught many adult students of different cultures and backgrounds over the past 20 years.


I have a minor in psychology and took several graduate level courses. I also attend local seminars which are presented by local psychologists. I have received additional CEUs for my participation.


World History

I have taken world history courses in college and have worked with students in the past.


I have tutored students for the GRE and took the test myself for graduate school.




I taught High School English and had experience at an alternative school where students were preparing for the GED test. I am familiar with the skills students need to accomplish for this test.

SAT Reading

Many of my students have been able to increase their scores in Reading and Writing on the SAT examinations. I set high goals for my students, and work with them on test taking methods as well. I find my coaching to be rewarding and satisfying.

SAT Writing

I have worked with many students on writing skills. Many have improved under my tutelage. I can provide references upon request. I taught high school English for over 19 years in NY and Ohio.



I am familiar with the test and the TOEFL questions. I have taught many students ESL and have had students who took the TOEFL.


I took GMAT exam several years ago. I also have worked with two students who were studying for this test.




ACT Reading

ACT English

I have worked with several students who were looking to raise their score on the ACT. My specialty is the English part of the test. I have reviewed many support materials and have a guide to help my students succeed.



Elementary (K-6th)

I have experience tutoring elementary age students. I currently work with a 4th grade boy in writing and reading skills over the summer. I have my masters degree in education and many years experience teaching students of all ages. This past year my tutoring experience was primarily with students 1st-5th grade.

Study Skills

I have coached students through the SOAR study skills program developed by Susan Kruger. I have also worked with many students helping them with organizing their planners and developing a daily structure for study skills and time management. Many high school students have benefited from my assistance in organizational skills. I have many years of experience teaching in public and private schools as well as working with students individually.

College Counseling

I am familiar with diagnostic tests which college planning centers use for their clients. I worked as an assistant for Dollars for College in the Fair Oaks area helping students write college essays and narrow their choices for college application. I have gone through the application process with my own daughter who is a freshman at UC San Diego.


I have taken and passed the CBEST test for California teachers. I have reviewed the materials and helped a student who contacted me outside of Wyzant. I can offer references. My students was able to pass the test after 6 sessions of tutoring for the English section of the test.


I have experience teaching cursive writing at the first and second grade level. I taught language arts, and have tutored students in early composition which requires handwriting. I have materials and the guides as to how the upper case and lower case letters are formed for writing. I feel competent to be able to tutor students in how to improve their handwriting and make improvements for legibility.
