GENERAL EXPERIENCE: As an undergraduate student at Florida International University (FIU) from 2001 to 2005, I often found myself tutoring my study groups in several subject areas, from Biochemistry to advanced Calculus, which greatly helped my performance in each class. By my senior year, I obtained a teaching assistantship for a graduate level class on Computational Modeling of Cellular Systems, which was a challenging course that combined advanced math and cell biology for engineering st... Algebra 1

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, including algebra. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels.

Algebra 2

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, including Algebra 2. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels.

Biology

I have undergraduate and graduate training in Biomedical Engineering with a strong focus on Molecular and Cell Biology and Biochemistry. I have also taught/tutored students in Biology at both high school (Honors/Advanced Placement/etc) and college levels (MCAT). I was the head Graduate Student Instructor for the Intro to Bioengineering class at UC Berkeley.

Calculus

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, including Calculus. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels.

Chemistry

I have a minor in chemistry as part of my bachelors degree in biomedical engineering. I have also tutored chemistry for many years now. I have helped students taking Honors, AP and college-level chemistry classes.

Microsoft Excel

I use Microsoft Excel on a daily basis for analysis of experimental data from laboratory experiments. I have also trained many students over the years on how to use Microsoft Excel for different types of applications.

Geometry

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, from Algebra to Geometry. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels.

Microsoft Word

I use word processors, including Microsoft Word, daily to prepare professional reports aimed at other scientists at the research institute where I work. I have also trained several students over the years on how to use Microsoft Word productively and effectively to craft professional reports complete with graphs, tables, reference, etc.

Physics

In high school I was an AP Physics student and my excellent performance on the AP exam earned me College Physics credit when I started pursuing my BS degree in Biomedical Engineering. I did take courses with a heavy advanced Physics content later on as part of other requirements for my BS degree. As an undergraduate student I did laboratory research that required application of several Physics concepts. My work culminated in a peer-reviewed publication shedding light on how cells in blood vessels operate. As a graduate student at UC Berkeley, I was a graduate student instructor at the Physics department, which is home to several Nobel Laureates in the field. I also took courses that required advanced knowledge of Physics as part of requirements for completion of my Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I use Microsoft PowerPoint weekly to create professional presentations aimed at other scientists at the research institute where I work. I have trained several students over the years on how to use Microsoft PowerPoint to craft impressive presentations for maximum impact.

Prealgebra

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, from Prealgebra to Geometry and Calculus to Differential Equations. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels.

Precalculus

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, from Algebra to Geometry and Precalculus to Differential Equations. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels.

Trigonometry

I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, including Trigonometry. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels.

Portuguese

I was born and raised in Brazil. I moved to the US when I was only 16 years old, but basically all of my formative years were taught in Portuguese. I have taught many students over the years to master the Portuguese language. I can help students practice conversational Portuguese as well as proofread any written work in Portuguese from students.

Biochemistry

Biochemistry was a required class for my BS in Biomedical Engineering. I organized and led a study group that helped my colleagues do well in the class. I was the only student in the class to get an A that semester. I was also the head Graduate Student Instructor for the Intro to Bioengineering class at UC Berkeley. I have been applying and teaching what I learned in that Biochemistry class for more than 14 years now.

Genetics

My undergraduate and graduate Biomedical training required advanced knowledge of Genetics and its associated fields such as Biology and Biochemistry. As a Research Scientist I got to apply and teach other students Genetics concepts and how they could put that knowledge to good use in a laboratory environment.
